About This File

It's the lost bridge leading to the UAC Facility... You must enter this UAC Facility. Watch out! There's bogeyballs living under the bridge! Don't jump in the waste river.

Welcome to the Lost Bridge, which is the only thing in this map. Its a brutal challenge map that lasts less than 2 minutes, but took me more than 10 minutes to complete. The level faces you off against some big enemies with big weapons and ammunition to charge through them. Not enough ammunition for all enemies, but enough to survive with skill and tactics.

Getting across the bridge is easy enough, you can clear a path and run across dodging imps, but its opening the door at the end that becomes the true challenge. Imagine three worst case scenarios and see if one of them is correct, I'd hate to spoil the surprise. Have more imagination than "its a cyberdemon" or "spider mastermind grand finale!"

The map area is small and confined, but not cramped, there's enough room to dodge fiery projectiles. Jumping into the toxic ooze below lets you swim around, but will ultimately get you killed. More detail would have been great, but what's here sufficed.

As a standalone map, like others have mentioned, its short, too short. The author specifies it took an hour or two to make and yeah, I'd believe it. I like the idea of brutal, short maps, but in a map pack with more than a single map. This just becomes a throwaway level. How can I call it a level when its just a short bridge with a door at the end?

Crampy, small gzdoom map. It throws you some tough monsters and too little ammo. Kill all baddies, move into base through bridge and map ends near second door, like it never properly started.

Fun but much too short - it's like a tiny part of a proper level. In Zdoom it's a fairly simple matter to strafe-jump across the pillars, although that's probably not what the author intended. At first I thought that the missing bridge was a joke (it's the "lost bridge") but of course you're supposed to use one of the other source ports.

A GZDoom level. It is too short, that is why it is not interesting. 1.5 / 5

Too short, almost incomplete I´d say. Gameplay was a bit cramped in the only area but with some fine tuning and a lenghtier gameplay this could have been a nice wad as the design isn´t bad at all. For the sake of shortness I´ll give it 1.5 stars (1 star). Danimetal.

I didn't figured out how to get to the other side. Maybe make the monsters open the door so that the archvilles throw you to the other way? But still preety much hard already and not enough ammo. 1/5 - Optimus

What engine you're using if you can't get on the other side???????????????? ????? Read the text file. Read the second line very well. Here is the line:"Advanced engine needed : Legacy or GZDoom". ps. There's more ammo on the other side of the bridge.

I genuinely enjoyed this mod with its level design and music. It was challenging and interesting and it kept me playing a while after beating it to try to find anything. though I would say it was slightly repetitive and overwhelming with enemies at some moments.

Writing a review for Darkening 2 is tough. It's a beloved megawad, and for good reason. As many other reviewers have said, it is historically a very important project.   It was an important megawad for me personally. I fell in love with the first level in particular. The music, the realistic architecture, so reminiscent of the video games of the 90s... It all left a lasting impression. And it was one of the most beautiful wads I've seen at the time.   But I rarely played anyt

A competently made map, for sure, but fun? It's way too long and repetitive, with same-y combat & ambush scenarios used again and again, and with way too much enemies, and not that much of a challenge, even for me who isn't exactly fond of "SUPER HARD WAD #9263!!!!11!. You can cut the whole thing in half, and then cut THAT half in half, and it would be a better map. Is it bad? No, just a little bit above average, mostly because it drags a bit too long.

Generally good map design, but the difficulty as is the case with pwads tends to be uneven even on HMP, especially when you mix them with what slaughtermaps tend to be (monster spam). Too many parts where, after pressing a switch, you'll spend some time killing enemies only to realise the map maker tried to get cute and spawned a bunch of hidden archviles somewhere to start reviving everyone while you were busy wasting ammo. This is especially unfun in parts with very little cover where you'll b

I like the part where I pay for the numerous murders I committed by getting beaten up by either a Mancubus or an Arachnotron, it changed my outlook on Monster Priority. Thank you "Problematic" Revenant #7, I have yet to find a way to repay him.
