Decent visuals, unimaginative and relatively boring gameplay. Worth a playthrough or two, just not a kind of map you keep on your hard-drive.

Pretty straightforward, but very tasteful design and texture usage. And skybox is great - yay for gzdoom 4/5 -- Brun Ohn

Very nice architecture in this WAD, but what else would you expect from Tormentor? It's a fun run n' gun slaughterfest in good-looking, if a bit repetitive, surroundings. Good work, can't wait for the continuation :)

Whenever I think if T667, or the zdoom mapping community, I think of this horrible redundant map. Why Tormentor, why?!

Pretty cool map. Feels more like a modern FPS than Doom, though is still very atmospheric. Pretty straightforward gameplay, lots of places to hide/snipe/dodge make it easy. Extreme detailing, and a great showcase of what GZDoom is capable of. I don't know why people rave about skyboxes; a corner in the air for no reason looks crap. 4/5

Gameplay is flawed like usual (ever since 2000 maybe) and there is the horrible unbalance between minibosses and regular monster fights like the twin Hectebi, twin Archies, and spider demolisher. The only thing that could fix this is to chop off some of the redundancy of having to get all six keys just to get through the short map, add space and ammo, more strategic monster placement, and add a couple more levels.

Kind of redundant gameplay. Go through a hallway, grab key, backtrack w/ new monsters. Everything happens right in front of the player for maximum boredom. Sure, pretty looking, but repetitive and boring. 3/5

A truly brilliant piece of work. Tormentor does it again. Much more beautiful than any of his previous releases, though admittedly not as interesting as TNT3.

Boring. It's essentially Wolfenstein 3D with new textures.

Sapphire had a lot of potential. It has a *great* basic environment, especially in outdoor areas. But, unfortunately, it suffers from a lack of detail and just throws enemies at you in empty hallways and rooms. Where are the airlocks? Where are the security stations? Where are the living quarters? Where are the labs? 3/5 because it's got a great start, but has a lot of unfulfilled potential.

People only call this boring because its linear. I honestly haven't played a SP map this good in a long time. Love the weapon/monster/ammo/ health placement, its just perfect. Only thing I wondered about was the final battle with the spiderdemon thingey. I just kept hiding behind the door and shooting it and it was too easy. Anyway awesome map and looking forward to the sequel 5/5 -Julz_D

Holy death on a stick! This map rocks. The gameplay I actually found somewhat enjoyable and acceptable, and the looks alone are stunning. I love the skybox and the music choice (UT2004). Does feel a tad linear, but its not too bad, not everybody can really make non-linear maps. Great use of GZDoom effects like reflective floors. No real complaints... 5* -- MasterOFDeath

I genuinely enjoyed this mod with its level design and music. It was challenging and interesting and it kept me playing a while after beating it to try to find anything. though I would say it was slightly repetitive and overwhelming with enemies at some moments.

Writing a review for Darkening 2 is tough. It's a beloved megawad, and for good reason. As many other reviewers have said, it is historically a very important project.   It was an important megawad for me personally. I fell in love with the first level in particular. The music, the realistic architecture, so reminiscent of the video games of the 90s... It all left a lasting impression. And it was one of the most beautiful wads I've seen at the time.   But I rarely played anyt

A competently made map, for sure, but fun? It's way too long and repetitive, with same-y combat & ambush scenarios used again and again, and with way too much enemies, and not that much of a challenge, even for me who isn't exactly fond of "SUPER HARD WAD #9263!!!!11!. You can cut the whole thing in half, and then cut THAT half in half, and it would be a better map. Is it bad? No, just a little bit above average, mostly because it drags a bit too long.

Generally good map design, but the difficulty as is the case with pwads tends to be uneven even on HMP, especially when you mix them with what slaughtermaps tend to be (monster spam). Too many parts where, after pressing a switch, you'll spend some time killing enemies only to realise the map maker tried to get cute and spawned a bunch of hidden archviles somewhere to start reviving everyone while you were busy wasting ammo. This is especially unfun in parts with very little cover where you'll b

I like the part where I pay for the numerous murders I committed by getting beaten up by either a Mancubus or an Arachnotron, it changed my outlook on Monster Priority. Thank you "Problematic" Revenant #7, I have yet to find a way to repay him.
