Not to be a jerk, but I was expecting something a lot different. While the gameplay is good, the asthetics are much less than anything I would consider "realistic" by any stretch of the word. Yes, there are "realistic" scenarios and such, but being as limited as Doom is, this map just comes off as a super detailed 1996 map. I've seen better city maps pulled off. 3/5

What the previous reviewer said. Looks like a really old map, it's boring and bland. 2/5 - Belial

This is dated July 2006. It's a city/hotel-style map; it combines the slick visuals of something from early 1995 with the nostalgic charm of a bland source port level from 2006. It's basically short and easy, with a Duke Nukem feel; it does nothing wrong but it looks very old-fashioned. I was never a fan of security cameras that show you what's in the next room unless there's another way around - it's not as if you're going to just stop at that point and turn back.

First place winner... huh? That doesn't win a prize with me in the jury. Ain't bad, but not worth a 1st place.

Great map thanks, Jacek! Was jumping allowed? I really tried every other way and gave in and jumped. Gave me lots of enjoyment.

This is underwhelming. It doesn't look all that realistic at all. In fact it looks like a decent-quality map of ten years ago, although there are some spurious Zdoom effects. The gameplay bored me.

Not bad. I like the cool setup of this WAD, and the fast paced music which adds to the level. Nice job with over under bridges, and lots of cool moving parts in high detailed machines. Nice duke nukem style camera. But not close to being a realistic city. 4/5 -r_rr

I genuinely enjoyed this mod with its level design and music. It was challenging and interesting and it kept me playing a while after beating it to try to find anything. though I would say it was slightly repetitive and overwhelming with enemies at some moments.

Writing a review for Darkening 2 is tough. It's a beloved megawad, and for good reason. As many other reviewers have said, it is historically a very important project.   It was an important megawad for me personally. I fell in love with the first level in particular. The music, the realistic architecture, so reminiscent of the video games of the 90s... It all left a lasting impression. And it was one of the most beautiful wads I've seen at the time.   But I rarely played anyt

A competently made map, for sure, but fun? It's way too long and repetitive, with same-y combat & ambush scenarios used again and again, and with way too much enemies, and not that much of a challenge, even for me who isn't exactly fond of "SUPER HARD WAD #9263!!!!11!. You can cut the whole thing in half, and then cut THAT half in half, and it would be a better map. Is it bad? No, just a little bit above average, mostly because it drags a bit too long.

Generally good map design, but the difficulty as is the case with pwads tends to be uneven even on HMP, especially when you mix them with what slaughtermaps tend to be (monster spam). Too many parts where, after pressing a switch, you'll spend some time killing enemies only to realise the map maker tried to get cute and spawned a bunch of hidden archviles somewhere to start reviving everyone while you were busy wasting ammo. This is especially unfun in parts with very little cover where you'll b

I like the part where I pay for the numerous murders I committed by getting beaten up by either a Mancubus or an Arachnotron, it changed my outlook on Monster Priority. Thank you "Problematic" Revenant #7, I have yet to find a way to repay him.
