About This File

Amazing, almost one year after my victory in the NewDoom WIAW (Wad In A Week) Contest, the Torment & Torture Series goes round 2 :) Outstanding effects, unbelievable scenery and a lot of guts and bones keep your fingers chili hot :P

Excellent sequel to TNT1 (id=14579). Lots of work has gone into these, and is well worth the download. BTW: this TNT series is pretty hard, so girlie's and jokewad enthusiasts stay away! 4/5

The best ZDoom WAD I've played to date! Excellent in every way, and even better than its already excellent predecessor. The music is awesome. If this isn't among the best ZDoom WADs ever, than I'd like to see what's better. 15/5, so I just voted 5/5. Good work again, Tormentor667! :) *worship, worship* --WinstonSmith6079

Reminds me of Quake style whyle throwing in great new suprises at the same time - an AMAZING wad! Don't forget to download (and play) - tnt3.zip (released 4/5/03), tcotd.zip (released 5/15/04), and tntle.zip (released 7/30/04) while you are at it! - Kak Home

great effects like sound and lightning, the design is very good (the lava river,..), although very dark in many places, the gameplay is ok, certainly a must play 4/5

It's, in ways, like Quake. Dark, atmospheric, and
spooky as hell. Great job :)

Health and ammo should have been more well balanced, but other than that, this is a stunning map.

This has a similar gothic-style look to its predecessor, and has more Zdoom features. I have never been a fan of stealth monsters. The level is very stylish although the gameplay isn't much to my taste; there's a lot of switch-flicking to open distant doors, there are about half a dozen small dark crate mazes, and the new monsters tend to infight each other immediately. And it's very dark, all the time. But it looks fab and would have been state of the art back in 2002.

I genuinely enjoyed this mod with its level design and music. It was challenging and interesting and it kept me playing a while after beating it to try to find anything. though I would say it was slightly repetitive and overwhelming with enemies at some moments.

Writing a review for Darkening 2 is tough. It's a beloved megawad, and for good reason. As many other reviewers have said, it is historically a very important project.   It was an important megawad for me personally. I fell in love with the first level in particular. The music, the realistic architecture, so reminiscent of the video games of the 90s... It all left a lasting impression. And it was one of the most beautiful wads I've seen at the time.   But I rarely played anyt

A competently made map, for sure, but fun? It's way too long and repetitive, with same-y combat & ambush scenarios used again and again, and with way too much enemies, and not that much of a challenge, even for me who isn't exactly fond of "SUPER HARD WAD #9263!!!!11!. You can cut the whole thing in half, and then cut THAT half in half, and it would be a better map. Is it bad? No, just a little bit above average, mostly because it drags a bit too long.

Generally good map design, but the difficulty as is the case with pwads tends to be uneven even on HMP, especially when you mix them with what slaughtermaps tend to be (monster spam). Too many parts where, after pressing a switch, you'll spend some time killing enemies only to realise the map maker tried to get cute and spawned a bunch of hidden archviles somewhere to start reviving everyone while you were busy wasting ammo. This is especially unfun in parts with very little cover where you'll b

I like the part where I pay for the numerous murders I committed by getting beaten up by either a Mancubus or an Arachnotron, it changed my outlook on Monster Priority. Thank you "Problematic" Revenant #7, I have yet to find a way to repay him.
