About This File

This WAD file took me 3-Days to creat(!) The best with this WAD must be all the new graphics I've added and Sounds! It's a huge city with cool houses all over, a city which feels as the real-thing but the city has been invaded by some scumbags call them self UACm your mission is to save the city from there Cyberdemon and Company. Ever seen the movie "the shining" well anyway, if you have: Do you remember the room 237 at the hotel..." In the city you may visit Mr.John Romero at ID_softwares quarter or the Super-Dome Stadium!

A below-average rectangular city map with some cute EGA graphics. Poor layout and texturing, close to zero gameplay.

I like the idea of this map, a huge Wolfenstein City which reminded me a bit of my earlier and mostly unreleased levels. But even a 4 year old girl will beat this with easy. 3 Stars -PC

Normally I would vote lower, but this was fun as hell on skulltag cooperation.

urhh, sucks, but it would have rocked, I'm sure, if the author had spent 6 days on it :P The map certainly shows what potential large maps have on gameplay: how standard linear maps seem comparitively inferior to the gameplay that springs from the largeness of these maps.

This is an ancient city-style map, dated 1990 (surely wrong), although it feels like something from 1995. It looks awful, and the sound replacement does not add to the game, but it's charming and nostalgic because it's so crude. The gameplay suffers from the same problem as most city-style maps, in that there's a lot of wandering about and identical-looking rooms. The exit should really have been after the impressive football pitch, not before.

This is actually a really fun map. The anxiety of the Cyberdemon stalking you gives it a certain je ne sais quoi.

I genuinely enjoyed this mod with its level design and music. It was challenging and interesting and it kept me playing a while after beating it to try to find anything. though I would say it was slightly repetitive and overwhelming with enemies at some moments.

Writing a review for Darkening 2 is tough. It's a beloved megawad, and for good reason. As many other reviewers have said, it is historically a very important project.   It was an important megawad for me personally. I fell in love with the first level in particular. The music, the realistic architecture, so reminiscent of the video games of the 90s... It all left a lasting impression. And it was one of the most beautiful wads I've seen at the time.   But I rarely played anyt

A competently made map, for sure, but fun? It's way too long and repetitive, with same-y combat & ambush scenarios used again and again, and with way too much enemies, and not that much of a challenge, even for me who isn't exactly fond of "SUPER HARD WAD #9263!!!!11!. You can cut the whole thing in half, and then cut THAT half in half, and it would be a better map. Is it bad? No, just a little bit above average, mostly because it drags a bit too long.

Generally good map design, but the difficulty as is the case with pwads tends to be uneven even on HMP, especially when you mix them with what slaughtermaps tend to be (monster spam). Too many parts where, after pressing a switch, you'll spend some time killing enemies only to realise the map maker tried to get cute and spawned a bunch of hidden archviles somewhere to start reviving everyone while you were busy wasting ammo. This is especially unfun in parts with very little cover where you'll b

I like the part where I pay for the numerous murders I committed by getting beaten up by either a Mancubus or an Arachnotron, it changed my outlook on Monster Priority. Thank you "Problematic" Revenant #7, I have yet to find a way to repay him.
