This is an improvement over the previous levels, but that's no reason to award it 5 stars. It's still a dull looking level with terrible gameplay plus some Zdoom trickery. 2 stars.

I expected something awful (not sure why) and found out a map that could perfectly be like 10 years old if it wasn´t for the ZDoom effecs... Overall, the layout and gameplay are boring and most visuals are bare and plain. The author may show promise managing the ZDoom resources but without experience in making a fun map (instead of a save-load fest) that promise serves no purpose. I hope more fun next time!. 2 stars.

After playing the latest addition to this series, I wanted to see what the predecessors looked like. While most of them were dull (as to be expected with an author's early maps), this one was quite fun, even with a couple of visual oddities near the end. The gameplay is difficult and spot-on, the quirky story line made me laugh, and the boss battle is superb. Not as good as nprject5, but still nice. 4/5 -Vavacious

Pretty bland, and too many Marines around for my tastes, but otherwise not too shabby. The low gravity part's a bitch though. The music was not great either. 3 stars overall.

1995 mapping with ZDoom features thrown in, bland architecture and boring texturing, a fair share of visual bugs and glitches, and it plays like crap since the marines make really poor enemies, which makes the abundance of ammo seem unnecessary. The final boss didn't even shoot once as I sprayed him with plasma. 1/5 - Belial

Best NBPRJ episode off the first 3. I liked it, the music and the scripts, looks like your'e just getting better and better. Can't wait for part 5. Also, just because I can see the improves from e1-e4, you get 5 stars from me. -Moti

A space station in silver. It looks ok (though nothing special). But I had not much fun to play through it 3/5

Holy shit! That looks very impressive! Are this your first wad? First wad? That is maps only masters can make. You are a little master, :=)

As with the other maps in this series, it looks and plays like something from mid-1995, but with some Zdoom features and 3D architecture. You start in a cell block where you have to shoot a switch to get out, which is vintage 1995. The emphasis on having a small number of tougher monsters reminded me of Quake. After the first teleport it became unplayable for me, because the scripting saved the game just after the surprise baddie hosed me with his plasma rifle.

This is great, especially the ending fight on the tram, which I thought was bad-ass. A bit difficult but not if you use the super shotgun and rocket launcher. Overall 5 stars

I genuinely enjoyed this mod with its level design and music. It was challenging and interesting and it kept me playing a while after beating it to try to find anything. though I would say it was slightly repetitive and overwhelming with enemies at some moments.

Writing a review for Darkening 2 is tough. It's a beloved megawad, and for good reason. As many other reviewers have said, it is historically a very important project.   It was an important megawad for me personally. I fell in love with the first level in particular. The music, the realistic architecture, so reminiscent of the video games of the 90s... It all left a lasting impression. And it was one of the most beautiful wads I've seen at the time.   But I rarely played anyt

A competently made map, for sure, but fun? It's way too long and repetitive, with same-y combat & ambush scenarios used again and again, and with way too much enemies, and not that much of a challenge, even for me who isn't exactly fond of "SUPER HARD WAD #9263!!!!11!. You can cut the whole thing in half, and then cut THAT half in half, and it would be a better map. Is it bad? No, just a little bit above average, mostly because it drags a bit too long.

Generally good map design, but the difficulty as is the case with pwads tends to be uneven even on HMP, especially when you mix them with what slaughtermaps tend to be (monster spam). Too many parts where, after pressing a switch, you'll spend some time killing enemies only to realise the map maker tried to get cute and spawned a bunch of hidden archviles somewhere to start reviving everyone while you were busy wasting ammo. This is especially unfun in parts with very little cover where you'll b

I like the part where I pay for the numerous murders I committed by getting beaten up by either a Mancubus or an Arachnotron, it changed my outlook on Monster Priority. Thank you "Problematic" Revenant #7, I have yet to find a way to repay him.
