A DooM II level, that shows all floors and ceilings. Nothing else.

All japanese body horror condensed in a single wad. I can see some of Shinya Tsukamoto influences towards the end of the experience.

I get it is funny to pretend this is an epic wad, but suggesting it gets a caco is taking it too far

Masterpiece. However, I must disagree with my fellow critic TheMagicMushroomMan here. This work very evidently doesn't possess the usual characteristics of Kurosawa's works. Instead, it immensely burrows from the techniques of Ingmar Bergman while applying them fully succesfully in a completely new medium, losing none of the master's touch, and adding just enough of a personal taste in order to stand itself out. A sight to burrow itself in our collective memory and never come out, masterpiece deserved to be played by all.

Powerful and ambitious map made during the middle of the golden era of DOOM mapping. An atomic bomb of psychedelia and subversive sexuality inspired by the early works of Akira Kurosawa. Once played, never forgotten.

I've heard some of the larger/popular mappers such as Jimmy and skillsaw have been real quiet since the release of this.

It's.... a interesting tutorial / prefab map at least, showing all the new floors and ceilings in Doom 2.

Just lying, best map ever. Skillsaw, download this and see how real maps are done.

ah yes floorceil. i love the exquisite and masterful show of all of this games beautiful floors and ceilings

this took me multiple hours to get through due to its complexity in level design and monster placement. i love the trap near the end where right as your going for the yellow key and all the walls open up to reveal a horde of bloodthirsty imps ready to claw your very hot face off.

over all 5 stars

crafted by a master of doom

complex level design

challenging new enemies

and a brand new weapon so beautiful that i cannot spoil in this review

you really need a high iq to understand the complex level design and master crafted puzzles

would recommend

I saw a floor and a ceiling, multiple in fact. Nice that there is no false advertisement here.

This is the most beautiful Doom map ever made. All of the most popular contemporary wads pale in comparison to this.

why cant this funduke guy find any 1994 maps that are actually fun to play?

Another one in the series of 1994 horrors that hit idgames today, that's basically a "showcase" of all (?) of Doom2's different floor and ceiling tiles in a single rectangular, looping tunnel. No monsters, no exit, but mercifully there's a barrel so you can commit suicide with dignity... 0/5 -Maes

I genuinely enjoyed this mod with its level design and music. It was challenging and interesting and it kept me playing a while after beating it to try to find anything. though I would say it was slightly repetitive and overwhelming with enemies at some moments.

Writing a review for Darkening 2 is tough. It's a beloved megawad, and for good reason. As many other reviewers have said, it is historically a very important project.   It was an important megawad for me personally. I fell in love with the first level in particular. The music, the realistic architecture, so reminiscent of the video games of the 90s... It all left a lasting impression. And it was one of the most beautiful wads I've seen at the time.   But I rarely played anyt

A competently made map, for sure, but fun? It's way too long and repetitive, with same-y combat & ambush scenarios used again and again, and with way too much enemies, and not that much of a challenge, even for me who isn't exactly fond of "SUPER HARD WAD #9263!!!!11!. You can cut the whole thing in half, and then cut THAT half in half, and it would be a better map. Is it bad? No, just a little bit above average, mostly because it drags a bit too long.

Generally good map design, but the difficulty as is the case with pwads tends to be uneven even on HMP, especially when you mix them with what slaughtermaps tend to be (monster spam). Too many parts where, after pressing a switch, you'll spend some time killing enemies only to realise the map maker tried to get cute and spawned a bunch of hidden archviles somewhere to start reviving everyone while you were busy wasting ammo. This is especially unfun in parts with very little cover where you'll b

I like the part where I pay for the numerous murders I committed by getting beaten up by either a Mancubus or an Arachnotron, it changed my outlook on Monster Priority. Thank you "Problematic" Revenant #7, I have yet to find a way to repay him.
