Well, isn't this a bit late, but who cares. This was is pretty alright. Sjas and Creeper are easy if you use mouselook, and you run from Sjas. If you shoot Jitterskull when he charges you, you'll stun him, keep doing that and you kill him. I have no tips for the Yurei. Anyway, 4/5 for the effort and other whatnots. -The Ace of Spades

The whole concept of wandering around a very dark forest with eerie music is quite impressive and creepy. However, the whole idea with the screaming ghouls is kind of...annoying. It would be better to go with more conventional Doom monsters. Then, I think it would be perfectly executed. But I'll give GF3 some credit--it has great shock value. 2.5/5

I sometimes have issues with transparency, and once jitterskull spawned right in center of camp, which is only thing made me jump. Its not quite scary but gives chills.I like the challenge here.Worst thing you cant expect with what Ghoul you will face.

With GOD mode you cant last more than 2 minutes. With a little more work, this could be better, alot more work it could be great. but the way it is now, AWFUL! better than zero, less than one. A solid 1/2 out of 5. Try again.

Now featuring: Scripting, louder and more annoying beasties, shite weapon meant to instill fear (annoyance) through being comically underpowered, tasteless pop-ups, awful credits music, forest! What progression!

Sucks so much less than the other two... it doesn't really suck. I can't kill Yurei without cheating though... too damn fast at disappearing. Oh... and this game is not scary. GF2 was not scary, though it was a bit startling when a screaming deathball appeared out of nowhere. The first is most scary... but only the first time you play, because then you know what's going to happen, a much faster than you invinco face is gonna almost silently kill you from behind. ***

One can argue that this sequel is redundant, as this kind of thing has already been done twice before. To a degree, yes. But here you have three new ghouls (I would have liked to see four), astronomically improved scripting compared to the previous editions of TGF, a new forest with things like tree stumps, slime, etc., and new weapons which change the dynamic of the game. Thus this sequel is not needless but brings the series up to date with today's expectations of wads. Bravo Cutman. 5/5 - Wills

I genuinely enjoyed this mod with its level design and music. It was challenging and interesting and it kept me playing a while after beating it to try to find anything. though I would say it was slightly repetitive and overwhelming with enemies at some moments.

Writing a review for Darkening 2 is tough. It's a beloved megawad, and for good reason. As many other reviewers have said, it is historically a very important project.   It was an important megawad for me personally. I fell in love with the first level in particular. The music, the realistic architecture, so reminiscent of the video games of the 90s... It all left a lasting impression. And it was one of the most beautiful wads I've seen at the time.   But I rarely played anyt

A competently made map, for sure, but fun? It's way too long and repetitive, with same-y combat & ambush scenarios used again and again, and with way too much enemies, and not that much of a challenge, even for me who isn't exactly fond of "SUPER HARD WAD #9263!!!!11!. You can cut the whole thing in half, and then cut THAT half in half, and it would be a better map. Is it bad? No, just a little bit above average, mostly because it drags a bit too long.

Generally good map design, but the difficulty as is the case with pwads tends to be uneven even on HMP, especially when you mix them with what slaughtermaps tend to be (monster spam). Too many parts where, after pressing a switch, you'll spend some time killing enemies only to realise the map maker tried to get cute and spawned a bunch of hidden archviles somewhere to start reviving everyone while you were busy wasting ammo. This is especially unfun in parts with very little cover where you'll b

I like the part where I pay for the numerous murders I committed by getting beaten up by either a Mancubus or an Arachnotron, it changed my outlook on Monster Priority. Thank you "Problematic" Revenant #7, I have yet to find a way to repay him.
