Pros: Great visuals, atmosphere and monster variety. Cons: Instant death lava/pits, switchhunting and backtracking as well as the final fight were kind of annoying. Still an impressive piece of work. 4/5

Damn Good, gameplay is lacking to a degree, but its still fun. Too much attention to eye-candy and not enough on making fun battles. Most of the new monsters aren't fun to fight, or are pointless to throw in other than for the novelty value. 4/5 for gameplay issues.

One of the most awesome wads I've ever played. This deserves an award, for god's sake. I enjoyed playing over again the released maps, and the new maps were simply amazing. Awesome job, Torm. 5/5 -Moti

Really, really good, just what I was looking for. Okay, one issue, which I don't penalize for, cuz it's probably just some bullshit issue that would only happen to me, but, I get a gay ass "Eriance Says" window in episode 2 (Armory) that just won't go away and ruins the entire episode cuz you can't see through it. I am playing GZDoom. Anyway, fantastic and Epic on all the episodes I can play! 5/5 for sure!

Excellent. Very highly polished with great maps and great difficulty. I still managed to get "stuck" on a couple of the maps because of their intricateness, but that in no way reduces this ***** star wad.

Extraordinary; if it was boxed up and sold for £9.99 at the local GAME I would buy it (although they would have to redo all the graphics and sounds to make them original). Some impressive sequences, particularly the beginning of Map04. It has the first ever decent voiceover acting in an amateur Doom level. Gameplay not quite as good as the looks (in contrast to e.g. SQUARES.wad) but the overall experience is superb.

Problem: I'm finding that I can't switch to certain weapons after picking them up if I change to another weapon.

To all you people who said it deserves an award, you got your wish. This was in the 10 ten wads of 2007 in the Cacowards.

Why the re is music from unreal? "bluff eversmoke" on map02! That's not right? At all - wad is not optimized at all, effects are ugly and the monsters are usual monsterpack ones!

I genuinely enjoyed this mod with its level design and music. It was challenging and interesting and it kept me playing a while after beating it to try to find anything. though I would say it was slightly repetitive and overwhelming with enemies at some moments.

Writing a review for Darkening 2 is tough. It's a beloved megawad, and for good reason. As many other reviewers have said, it is historically a very important project.   It was an important megawad for me personally. I fell in love with the first level in particular. The music, the realistic architecture, so reminiscent of the video games of the 90s... It all left a lasting impression. And it was one of the most beautiful wads I've seen at the time.   But I rarely played anyt

A competently made map, for sure, but fun? It's way too long and repetitive, with same-y combat & ambush scenarios used again and again, and with way too much enemies, and not that much of a challenge, even for me who isn't exactly fond of "SUPER HARD WAD #9263!!!!11!. You can cut the whole thing in half, and then cut THAT half in half, and it would be a better map. Is it bad? No, just a little bit above average, mostly because it drags a bit too long.

Generally good map design, but the difficulty as is the case with pwads tends to be uneven even on HMP, especially when you mix them with what slaughtermaps tend to be (monster spam). Too many parts where, after pressing a switch, you'll spend some time killing enemies only to realise the map maker tried to get cute and spawned a bunch of hidden archviles somewhere to start reviving everyone while you were busy wasting ammo. This is especially unfun in parts with very little cover where you'll b

I like the part where I pay for the numerous murders I committed by getting beaten up by either a Mancubus or an Arachnotron, it changed my outlook on Monster Priority. Thank you "Problematic" Revenant #7, I have yet to find a way to repay him.
