About This File

This was meant for another project but hey! Its a Doom 2 map with some new textures! It uses slot Map09. It should take about 8-10 min to play depending on the skill level.

Main features:

1. One new level.

2.New textures

3. The type of monsters that appear is depending on the skill level, so the higher the skill does not just mean more monsters.

4. Map tweeked for deathmatch play. The map should play best with 6-12 people.

3/5. I thought there was a good basis here... but where is that key? Yes, as one said it is only in multiplayer. I just typed "idclip" to walk through the one wall... other than that I thought it was a decent level. I've seen far worse on here. Take Ruba's levels for example.

Notwithstanding the yellow key bug, this map is actually pretty decent. It's a pretty straight-forward map, with some older design, but again not bad. I'd say 3/5 stars.

It was a simple process of removing the multi-player tag on the yellow key making this a fairly decent little level. Score: 3/5 ... 2 for me, 1 for you == 1/5

The yellow key's there, but it's got the "multiplayer" bit set. Given that the map says "Player starts only" as opposed to "No" for "Single Player", that's a big mistake; PSO means "not optimised/built for", after all, not "unplayable". 1/5

Notwithstanding the bug mentioned above, this is a dark, dull, square map that feels more than ten years old. The final battle isn't bad - although you can just skip it and run to the exit - but otherwise the action is rote, with you versus a lot of mostly weak monsters in a series of square dungeons. It could easily have been a non-source port level, too, for more kudos.

nothing good about it. this map even can't be finished in singleplayer 'cause yellow key is missing. not worth a download.

uhhhhhh...this map ain't as bad as the reviews above are claim. It's not the best map in the world but its still ok, if it weren't for the missing key. So from me, 3/5 star.

I genuinely enjoyed this mod with its level design and music. It was challenging and interesting and it kept me playing a while after beating it to try to find anything. though I would say it was slightly repetitive and overwhelming with enemies at some moments.

Writing a review for Darkening 2 is tough. It's a beloved megawad, and for good reason. As many other reviewers have said, it is historically a very important project.   It was an important megawad for me personally. I fell in love with the first level in particular. The music, the realistic architecture, so reminiscent of the video games of the 90s... It all left a lasting impression. And it was one of the most beautiful wads I've seen at the time.   But I rarely played anyt

A competently made map, for sure, but fun? It's way too long and repetitive, with same-y combat & ambush scenarios used again and again, and with way too much enemies, and not that much of a challenge, even for me who isn't exactly fond of "SUPER HARD WAD #9263!!!!11!. You can cut the whole thing in half, and then cut THAT half in half, and it would be a better map. Is it bad? No, just a little bit above average, mostly because it drags a bit too long.

Generally good map design, but the difficulty as is the case with pwads tends to be uneven even on HMP, especially when you mix them with what slaughtermaps tend to be (monster spam). Too many parts where, after pressing a switch, you'll spend some time killing enemies only to realise the map maker tried to get cute and spawned a bunch of hidden archviles somewhere to start reviving everyone while you were busy wasting ammo. This is especially unfun in parts with very little cover where you'll b

I like the part where I pay for the numerous murders I committed by getting beaten up by either a Mancubus or an Arachnotron, it changed my outlook on Monster Priority. Thank you "Problematic" Revenant #7, I have yet to find a way to repay him.
