wow, why DON'T I like this? hmm, it's because it confused the hell out of me. looks amazing, I just wish gameplay was significantly a lot more fun. I consider it bad when I don't have a clue where the fuck I'm going a lot, and while this fairs better than a number of other didy wads, in which I was certainly lost, there were still some moments of confusion. the gimmick of using a rope to climb is pretty neat, as are the sliding fences and stuff. but as neat as it is, I care about fluid gameplay a whole lot more.

I agree , it's one of the Didy's best releases. Axiom has very striking and detailed visuals for a 2008 map. I especially loved this map for it's quite obscure but excentric progression (I love 3D bridges)

What an absolutely beautiful map! Very organic and very flowy. Difficulty is moderate, but it won't allow you to doze off. The gameplay is smooth and layouts connect well to where you need to be, despite the size of the level. Very, very good!

One of didy's best releases, probably his best until MOHU at least. As the /newstuff review said, very sharp map. Give it a go.

A really good and convincing map. It's rare to see this kind of attention put into level and gameplay design. Get it!

I don't find it that much impressive, but the level is ok I think. Texturing could be better maybe. 3/5

Plenty of attention to detail, impressive scale, beautiful settings. This is an example of the best the community has to offer. Only problem was that health seemed non-existant for the most part. I finished on 1 health! Still, 5* regardless

Bloody hell, I loved it. Great setting, and unique use of textures. Not a bad map, gameplay-wise either (too much supershotgun abuse these days, which this one doesn't have). I'm hoping Scuba nabs this one for consideration for a you-know-what. ;P

Unforgiving survival map; combat is not that difficult, but there is basically zero health/ low ammo, which in return made the gameplay feel artificial and punishing. But I see if dude sits down and makes a map, it's fucking unthinkable that players just play it, have fun and put the thing away. No you have to bleed. 2/5

Badass level that plays as good as it looks. Actually feels like a subterranean lair and not just a buncha rooms tacked together.5/5-GreazyS horts

This is a visually striking map with a novel visual theme that seems to blend elements of steampunk and Inca temple. It feels enormous and intricate, with lots of dark shadows. The gameplay is pretty good, with a steady stream of mostly low-intensity fights and not much health; most of the level's enjoyment comes from exploring and looking around though. Must have taken ages to make.

I genuinely enjoyed this mod with its level design and music. It was challenging and interesting and it kept me playing a while after beating it to try to find anything. though I would say it was slightly repetitive and overwhelming with enemies at some moments.

Writing a review for Darkening 2 is tough. It's a beloved megawad, and for good reason. As many other reviewers have said, it is historically a very important project.   It was an important megawad for me personally. I fell in love with the first level in particular. The music, the realistic architecture, so reminiscent of the video games of the 90s... It all left a lasting impression. And it was one of the most beautiful wads I've seen at the time.   But I rarely played anyt

A competently made map, for sure, but fun? It's way too long and repetitive, with same-y combat & ambush scenarios used again and again, and with way too much enemies, and not that much of a challenge, even for me who isn't exactly fond of "SUPER HARD WAD #9263!!!!11!. You can cut the whole thing in half, and then cut THAT half in half, and it would be a better map. Is it bad? No, just a little bit above average, mostly because it drags a bit too long.

Generally good map design, but the difficulty as is the case with pwads tends to be uneven even on HMP, especially when you mix them with what slaughtermaps tend to be (monster spam). Too many parts where, after pressing a switch, you'll spend some time killing enemies only to realise the map maker tried to get cute and spawned a bunch of hidden archviles somewhere to start reviving everyone while you were busy wasting ammo. This is especially unfun in parts with very little cover where you'll b

I like the part where I pay for the numerous murders I committed by getting beaten up by either a Mancubus or an Arachnotron, it changed my outlook on Monster Priority. Thank you "Problematic" Revenant #7, I have yet to find a way to repay him.
