About This File

First adaptation ever of the "Hokuto No Ken" comic/TV animation in the DOOM engine. New textures, new items, new sprites, new weapons, new sounds, and new music. The project uses the most familiar "Hokuto No Ken" characters (also known as "Fist of the North Star" and "Ken il Guerriero") from TV episodes 1 to 22 (manga 1&2). (See end of file for detailed description).

Is not that bad as reviewers want to make think back in older times.

Sure, E1M1 / MAP01 midi is loud as shit and the sounds are a little annoying sometimes, but overall the graphic works on Kenshiro arms and legs and some texture work are pretty good looking, reminds me a little of Strife.

I see nice graphics and all! I don't understand why peoples complain about the lack of maps. Maps don't make everything... Good job Iceman. 4 stars

I don't care how long it took this "team" to make it, this still wasn't very impressive. If it had new maps, I'd rate this a little higher. As it is right now... 2/5

^This comment alone deserves a 5. This wad, however, deserves a zero.

It's a good mod and I don't really care maps at all......but I just disappoint about the useless advertising about the mod in Doomworld forum......due this happens now I only give 3/5, sorry. - playerlin

This is from 2008? The quality is shitty and just plain annoying even if you don't know what this whole "anime" wapanese fad is. I expected something like this from back in the days when people first figured out how to replace graphics in doom. 0/5 P.S. Iceman, you suck.

I can't believe Iceman actually thinks anybody is going to use this shit in any mod.

Okay, I used to love Fist of the North Star as a kid. The graphics for this wad are pretty superb, and really do look like the show. They hype however was bullshit, so I will subtract one star for that. 4/5

Ugh, this thing was made in 2008 and it's still on an ancient doom engine? I seriously question the logic on Iceman and co. when they worked on this pile of shit... with Iceman overhyping the fuck out of it, no less.

Overhyped and has quite a few entries not seen in most source ports (STDISK, STCDROM, ENDOOM) or used as an actual replacement (An F_SKY1 replacement? Are you kidding me?). I also love the hilarious defenders coming here to people who vote this down, as I suspect they are of Ice's "team". 1/5 for a complete waste of time since he could have done for a bigger bang if it was done on something like the Source engine Half-Life 2 uses.

As a Fist of the North Star fan, I can say that the graphics are spot on for what they're supposed to be. Some good talent here. However, this desperately needs some custom maps to go with it, maybe with some scripting to follow the storyline. 3/5 - CutmanMike

I genuinely enjoyed this mod with its level design and music. It was challenging and interesting and it kept me playing a while after beating it to try to find anything. though I would say it was slightly repetitive and overwhelming with enemies at some moments.

Writing a review for Darkening 2 is tough. It's a beloved megawad, and for good reason. As many other reviewers have said, it is historically a very important project.   It was an important megawad for me personally. I fell in love with the first level in particular. The music, the realistic architecture, so reminiscent of the video games of the 90s... It all left a lasting impression. And it was one of the most beautiful wads I've seen at the time.   But I rarely played anyt

A competently made map, for sure, but fun? It's way too long and repetitive, with same-y combat & ambush scenarios used again and again, and with way too much enemies, and not that much of a challenge, even for me who isn't exactly fond of "SUPER HARD WAD #9263!!!!11!. You can cut the whole thing in half, and then cut THAT half in half, and it would be a better map. Is it bad? No, just a little bit above average, mostly because it drags a bit too long.

Generally good map design, but the difficulty as is the case with pwads tends to be uneven even on HMP, especially when you mix them with what slaughtermaps tend to be (monster spam). Too many parts where, after pressing a switch, you'll spend some time killing enemies only to realise the map maker tried to get cute and spawned a bunch of hidden archviles somewhere to start reviving everyone while you were busy wasting ammo. This is especially unfun in parts with very little cover where you'll b

I like the part where I pay for the numerous murders I committed by getting beaten up by either a Mancubus or an Arachnotron, it changed my outlook on Monster Priority. Thank you "Problematic" Revenant #7, I have yet to find a way to repay him.
