About This File

"It's been centuries.. Upon hearing the news of the next invasion, our people fled the planet, far into the reaches of our galaxy.. They listened to the distress calls fade into a sea of white noise from afar. The survival of the species was indeed their number one priority, but anyone who had lost their families had but one thing on their minds; Revenge. We've reformed our military forces and attacked the surface of our now alien planet. The battle continues on. As our forces take back the land that was stolen from us, we find relics of the last known survivors of Earth. A body of an un- known soldier has been recovered with something of interest.. a video, recorded in desperation, that we would someday find it. These are our findings.."

Hmm! A lot of effort has been put in this map, and it came out greatly. I loved how it felt like a horror movie all along. Excellent job! 5/5 -Moti

Too easy. The sound Resident Evil style is good, and good graphics, but bad gameplay and difficulty. 3/5

Nice map. One minor thing, you can jump from sector 305 down to sector 447, then jump to sector 448, then fall down into sector 449 and get stuck.

Very good job! Playing this map was like being inside a terror movie. It´s atmosferic and nicely detailed. I would give it 6 stars, but as I don´t like switches that open doors in the other side of the map, 5 stars for you.

A lot of time and effort went into this excellent map. Loads of detail and some pretty good fights to boot. My only gripe is the unskipable intro, although it is short so only a little gripe. Other than a few sounds, I don't see the Sin City connection. Oh well, still a 5/5 wad.

Its not a bad map, interesting use of the Resident Evil sounds, but I felt like they didn't belong in DooM, but that is just me. Good job though! 4/5!-Candle M

Silly wad. Really ridiculous, I finished it on UV without saving. It looked like "I am too young to die" lmao. 0/5.

5 stars. Only thing that dissapointed me was that there were actually less special effects compared to id=11846, which IMO should be rated just as high as this. But this does contain more atmosphere by far, much due to the music. And it's also just as much fun to play, with a shorter cutscene this time. I wonder why these maps never have a real "boss" fight though. I think it's time Ed puts that Cyber/Spider Mastermind or at least some Barons at the end of a map. 5/5 anyways.

I genuinely enjoyed this mod with its level design and music. It was challenging and interesting and it kept me playing a while after beating it to try to find anything. though I would say it was slightly repetitive and overwhelming with enemies at some moments.

Writing a review for Darkening 2 is tough. It's a beloved megawad, and for good reason. As many other reviewers have said, it is historically a very important project.   It was an important megawad for me personally. I fell in love with the first level in particular. The music, the realistic architecture, so reminiscent of the video games of the 90s... It all left a lasting impression. And it was one of the most beautiful wads I've seen at the time.   But I rarely played anyt

A competently made map, for sure, but fun? It's way too long and repetitive, with same-y combat & ambush scenarios used again and again, and with way too much enemies, and not that much of a challenge, even for me who isn't exactly fond of "SUPER HARD WAD #9263!!!!11!. You can cut the whole thing in half, and then cut THAT half in half, and it would be a better map. Is it bad? No, just a little bit above average, mostly because it drags a bit too long.

Generally good map design, but the difficulty as is the case with pwads tends to be uneven even on HMP, especially when you mix them with what slaughtermaps tend to be (monster spam). Too many parts where, after pressing a switch, you'll spend some time killing enemies only to realise the map maker tried to get cute and spawned a bunch of hidden archviles somewhere to start reviving everyone while you were busy wasting ammo. This is especially unfun in parts with very little cover where you'll b

I like the part where I pay for the numerous murders I committed by getting beaten up by either a Mancubus or an Arachnotron, it changed my outlook on Monster Priority. Thank you "Problematic" Revenant #7, I have yet to find a way to repay him.
