Data Center 1.0

About This File

The UAC's primary data center has been invaded by the monsters of hell in order to steal some intelligence and ultimately wipe out the human race. The center's population has been wiped out and you are the only hope of reclaiming the UAC's secrets from the demons. Find the source of the infestation before the monsters are able to use our secrets against us.

This is my first set of levels that I have actually completed. I swore to myself that I would make no new textures and make it strictly with Vanilla doom features only. As a result I was finally able to complete something on my own.

Fantastic maps for first(& final??) effort... starts off with 2 small warm up maps...map 3 and 5 are best imo...some bugs in prboom+ but playable generally...

This is great stuff!!! Forget about the fact that it doesn't really work with Vanilla DooM as promised... Just play with Zdoom and it works perfectly... Level one is kinda reminiscent of id's first levels. Quick and simple and linear. Probably not beatable in 30 seconds but comes close. The rest is where the gold is at.

Awesome maps. I was gonna send a demo of my run through the levels but it went out of snyc :( I thought it was creative and a nice change of pace in the later levels.

Not bad for a first attempt. The levels start out really easy but then it gets harder once you reach MAP04. 4/5

Heh cool. Brings back that good ol' classic feel at the same time as being modern. The levels were fun with some interesting secret areas and awesome fights. Level 3 was awesome and nonlinear with many nice hellish surprises and the last two levels were pretty intense and scary. It's a good balance between Techy and Hell levels.

Six new maps dated September 2008, although they have a real old 1996 feel. Map01 is just a long corridor; Map02 is anonymous; Map03 is pretty good, non-linear with some nice fights (the archvile ambush, mentioned above, is nicely set up). For some reason the BFG is in almost every map, even Map02, which seems over-the-top. Map04 is short and tough, Map05 is my favourite, with some surreal touches. Map06 is a short and simple icon of sin level. Good start.

This is really good. Challenging without being overly challenging. Each level has a nice size without being epic. I love it.

This was a lot of fun. It got really crazy and creative and there were many things that took me by surprise as the level pack went on. The first level was a linear shooting gallery but things changed up right away by level 2.

Good pack, thought the first level is so easy it's basically trivial. Second level is more like typical first map difficulty and it works up from there. I really enjoyed Map03-06, 05 being my favorite. Given that this is a very nice piece of work minus the first map or two, I'm tempted to rate it 5 stars, especially for a first effort of the author - good job Ilya.

I genuinely enjoyed this mod with its level design and music. It was challenging and interesting and it kept me playing a while after beating it to try to find anything. though I would say it was slightly repetitive and overwhelming with enemies at some moments.

Writing a review for Darkening 2 is tough. It's a beloved megawad, and for good reason. As many other reviewers have said, it is historically a very important project.   It was an important megawad for me personally. I fell in love with the first level in particular. The music, the realistic architecture, so reminiscent of the video games of the 90s... It all left a lasting impression. And it was one of the most beautiful wads I've seen at the time.   But I rarely played anyt

A competently made map, for sure, but fun? It's way too long and repetitive, with same-y combat & ambush scenarios used again and again, and with way too much enemies, and not that much of a challenge, even for me who isn't exactly fond of "SUPER HARD WAD #9263!!!!11!. You can cut the whole thing in half, and then cut THAT half in half, and it would be a better map. Is it bad? No, just a little bit above average, mostly because it drags a bit too long.

Generally good map design, but the difficulty as is the case with pwads tends to be uneven even on HMP, especially when you mix them with what slaughtermaps tend to be (monster spam). Too many parts where, after pressing a switch, you'll spend some time killing enemies only to realise the map maker tried to get cute and spawned a bunch of hidden archviles somewhere to start reviving everyone while you were busy wasting ammo. This is especially unfun in parts with very little cover where you'll b

I like the part where I pay for the numerous murders I committed by getting beaten up by either a Mancubus or an Arachnotron, it changed my outlook on Monster Priority. Thank you "Problematic" Revenant #7, I have yet to find a way to repay him.
