About This File

This wad (or, to be more precise, level) has been made originally for the project named Grid32.wad, but, because of circumstances, has not taken part in it. However, later I have decided to complete this level and to release it separately, as well as it was with 32 inch nails.wad, created by Eternal. Later, this level will enter into mine megawad. The level does not have any serious storyline - but the sense here is not the story. Everything that you need to know is: contact with Object "32" has been lost. You have been sent to find out why. Having arrived into place, you find out that there are demons which partially had altered that base. This level is difficult enough (or it may be so), so I advise to think over what difficulty you will choose before starting game.

nicely done exploratory map that proves to be quite the challenge to get through.

A generally solid adventure map with complex layouts to explore and some quirky progression. Gameplay isn't particularly challenging, and most encounters can be safely retreated from and corner/door camped. The occasional block lines don't help in that regard. Pain Elemental use is quite liberal, and there is the occasional Vile to keep you alert. There were some bugs with items getting stuck on ledges that were supposed to lower on -cl2, but it's not a huge deal. Pretty good overall. 3/5

Really enjoyed playing this level. It's so big I got lost a few times but it's definitely worth a go. The ending was somewhat disappointing but I often find that after getting through large levels.

Nice Job. One of the best level, built in "grid 32".

This is a very good single level. Outstanding in the way it looks, feels, and plays. I highly recommend you download and play this now.

This map is convoluted in many key parts and the art style is a mixture of themes which feels at odd with the idea that this is one level. Those acid stairs that lead to a pit with a dubious escape path left a bad memory in my mind. The ending was anti-climactic also. There were too many rockets and too often one could simply wait by the entrance and snipe off all the enemies. A mishmash of quality, but in the end an impressive map. PS: GOW 1 is better than the sequel :P

Thoroughly enjoyed this. Great design, balanced gameplay, and really fitting music! Nice and challenging but also well balanced with ammo and health. 5 stars from me. -TRRobin.

A very detailed level with some great traps somewhat ruined by being too dark and with a bunch of convoluted confusing puzzles and unfair encounters, and a few points of questionable texture usage. Plays on PrBoom but you definitely want a GL port with mouselook to make the most of it. Would not even download a megawad of levels like this. Big meh from me. 2/5

This is dated December 2008. It's an intricate slime factory with some clever transforming scenery and a hellish second act. Starts off dark, gets lighter. 380-ish baddies; you have a tonne of health but less ammo, which is problematic because you fight a lot of pain elementals and lost souls. Nonetheless I enjoyed it. Difficulty surprisingly mild; lots of traps, but they're arranged so that the monsters infight each other most of the time.

The beginning is a bit comfusing but the rest is great. Awesome music makes this quite atmospheric.

Would be a decent map if it wasn't impossible to see anything without gamma level 4.

I genuinely enjoyed this mod with its level design and music. It was challenging and interesting and it kept me playing a while after beating it to try to find anything. though I would say it was slightly repetitive and overwhelming with enemies at some moments.

Writing a review for Darkening 2 is tough. It's a beloved megawad, and for good reason. As many other reviewers have said, it is historically a very important project.   It was an important megawad for me personally. I fell in love with the first level in particular. The music, the realistic architecture, so reminiscent of the video games of the 90s... It all left a lasting impression. And it was one of the most beautiful wads I've seen at the time.   But I rarely played anyt

A competently made map, for sure, but fun? It's way too long and repetitive, with same-y combat & ambush scenarios used again and again, and with way too much enemies, and not that much of a challenge, even for me who isn't exactly fond of "SUPER HARD WAD #9263!!!!11!. You can cut the whole thing in half, and then cut THAT half in half, and it would be a better map. Is it bad? No, just a little bit above average, mostly because it drags a bit too long.

Generally good map design, but the difficulty as is the case with pwads tends to be uneven even on HMP, especially when you mix them with what slaughtermaps tend to be (monster spam). Too many parts where, after pressing a switch, you'll spend some time killing enemies only to realise the map maker tried to get cute and spawned a bunch of hidden archviles somewhere to start reviving everyone while you were busy wasting ammo. This is especially unfun in parts with very little cover where you'll b

I like the part where I pay for the numerous murders I committed by getting beaten up by either a Mancubus or an Arachnotron, it changed my outlook on Monster Priority. Thank you "Problematic" Revenant #7, I have yet to find a way to repay him.
