About This File

This is a 9 level Heretic wad designed for single/cooperative play. Have fun, and be sure to use the proper DMFLAGs listed below if you are playing on cooperative mode. 1-6 players should be the limit. Story: IN AN EPIC TURN OF EVENTS, the Overlords of Fruit have rallied their unequaled forces of ferocity and badness and meanness and have STRUCK BACK. It's up to the heretics to fight them back to the last bastion in THE HISTORY OF FRUIT: A BIT OF HERETIC COOP!

Though the episode starts of a bit mediocre with its first few maps it really shines near the end with a good amount of detail, fun combat encounters and lots of monsters.Fighting of hordes of monsters in these fruit themed maps was quite fun but the rooms felt a bit cramped at times and you just shoot at enemies from the front sometimes also with all those big encounters at the end more tomes of power would have been really appreciated. It's great overall with just a few problems holding it back.

Good but absolutely not excellent episode - for that the layout of most maps is not good enough, and the overall gameplay is often too simple or even boring. Worth a try, but don't expect the best Heretic episode ever.

The title screams "Jokewad!" but that's not what you'll find here. In fact you'll find an entire episode of nine good levels. Also be sure to check out these guy's other work, the heavily co-opmitized Doom project The Great Bicycle Mystery (2)!

An average episode replacement, the new textures are pretty meh though, and the texture conversion of Heretic is not carried over. (Like the Blue trident switch isn't synonymous for ending the level)

The map titles are damn funny :) Great wad, finally something that's not too hard like HoCX and HTChest.

Wow, excellent. Perhaps the best looking Heretic wad I've seen...ever. 5/5 Play this wad now or E1M2 at the very least. E1M8 had a very unique appearance by D'Sparil as well.

Hooray, all that nagging finally paid off...now others can see what I saw in that ZDS months ago - a brand new Heretic episode! Not only that, a pretty damn good one too with some great set-pieces (notably in E1M9).

I genuinely enjoyed this mod with its level design and music. It was challenging and interesting and it kept me playing a while after beating it to try to find anything. though I would say it was slightly repetitive and overwhelming with enemies at some moments.

Writing a review for Darkening 2 is tough. It's a beloved megawad, and for good reason. As many other reviewers have said, it is historically a very important project.   It was an important megawad for me personally. I fell in love with the first level in particular. The music, the realistic architecture, so reminiscent of the video games of the 90s... It all left a lasting impression. And it was one of the most beautiful wads I've seen at the time.   But I rarely played anyt

A competently made map, for sure, but fun? It's way too long and repetitive, with same-y combat & ambush scenarios used again and again, and with way too much enemies, and not that much of a challenge, even for me who isn't exactly fond of "SUPER HARD WAD #9263!!!!11!. You can cut the whole thing in half, and then cut THAT half in half, and it would be a better map. Is it bad? No, just a little bit above average, mostly because it drags a bit too long.

Generally good map design, but the difficulty as is the case with pwads tends to be uneven even on HMP, especially when you mix them with what slaughtermaps tend to be (monster spam). Too many parts where, after pressing a switch, you'll spend some time killing enemies only to realise the map maker tried to get cute and spawned a bunch of hidden archviles somewhere to start reviving everyone while you were busy wasting ammo. This is especially unfun in parts with very little cover where you'll b

I like the part where I pay for the numerous murders I committed by getting beaten up by either a Mancubus or an Arachnotron, it changed my outlook on Monster Priority. Thank you "Problematic" Revenant #7, I have yet to find a way to repay him.
