About This File

Two levels for any limit removing port.

The idea for this PWAD came from iddqd.ru. The main concept is: you should create a level using only two IWAD textures and two IWAD flats. Thanks Shadowman for inspiration.

PrBoom-Plus 2.5.0.1+ is strongly recommended, because this level has COLORMAP replacement which is not supported by (G)Zdoom.

WARNING: You should not use glboom at all and glboom-plus before 2.5.0.1 with this PWAD to avoid HOMs.

MIDIes: Title/Interpic: alien.mod from Terminal Velocity. (converted to MIDI by hand) Map01: Terminator 1-2. Map02: corner.mod from Terminal Velocity. (converted to MIDI by hand) Sounds: Power Slave, Doom3. Sprites: Power Slave, d2moda.wad.

Dehacked patch, in-wad demos and PWAD composing: Andrey "entryway" Budko.

Not my favorite Eternal release, but worth 5 stars. Don't miss it!

5/5 just because map01 was so realistic (i was scared at first), and for doing so much with 2x2

I really enjoyed the "Doom 3" feel that the first level had (not just the sprites; the overall atmosphere), and the area where the player has to shoot the "voodoo doll" through the wall to grab the invulnerability was brilliant. Also, the final boss fight was very well-executed; plenty of ammo and room for evasion. 5/5

Once again, a very clever, very well done wad. 2 maps this time, both with a distinct Doom 3 atmosphere (more prominent in the first map). Only issue with the map set was that I didn't know where I was going right at the end of the MAP01. Otherwise another 5* performance. -Phobus

Excellent. Eternal has done more with just 2 textures and 2 flats than most mappers can with the whole set. Great atmosphere, great mapping tricks and great fun. I have yet to see another level use ZZZFACE properly :P

Clever use of the 2x2 texture rule, otherwise it's boring and kinda repetitive. Meh. 2/5

Two levels are dated January 2009. They have a texture scheme that makes them look ten years older, but they're good fun. Map01 is a spaceship with lots of fighting in gloomy corridors. It's atmospheric, but needed polish, with samey-looking rooms and some minor bugs. The finale is great fun. Map02 takes less time to finish; it's a starbase that reminded me of id=9597. The final battle has a good bit whereby the boss wipes out a crowd of revenants.

Fun, spooky levels, and I really like the updates to the chaingun and the rocket launcher. They look rad. The single shot shotgun looks cool too, but who ever uses that badboy once you get the double barrel? Kind of a waste to change a shotgun you don't use, and leave the other alone.

I genuinely enjoyed this mod with its level design and music. It was challenging and interesting and it kept me playing a while after beating it to try to find anything. though I would say it was slightly repetitive and overwhelming with enemies at some moments.

Writing a review for Darkening 2 is tough. It's a beloved megawad, and for good reason. As many other reviewers have said, it is historically a very important project.   It was an important megawad for me personally. I fell in love with the first level in particular. The music, the realistic architecture, so reminiscent of the video games of the 90s... It all left a lasting impression. And it was one of the most beautiful wads I've seen at the time.   But I rarely played anyt

A competently made map, for sure, but fun? It's way too long and repetitive, with same-y combat & ambush scenarios used again and again, and with way too much enemies, and not that much of a challenge, even for me who isn't exactly fond of "SUPER HARD WAD #9263!!!!11!. You can cut the whole thing in half, and then cut THAT half in half, and it would be a better map. Is it bad? No, just a little bit above average, mostly because it drags a bit too long.

Generally good map design, but the difficulty as is the case with pwads tends to be uneven even on HMP, especially when you mix them with what slaughtermaps tend to be (monster spam). Too many parts where, after pressing a switch, you'll spend some time killing enemies only to realise the map maker tried to get cute and spawned a bunch of hidden archviles somewhere to start reviving everyone while you were busy wasting ammo. This is especially unfun in parts with very little cover where you'll b

I like the part where I pay for the numerous murders I committed by getting beaten up by either a Mancubus or an Arachnotron, it changed my outlook on Monster Priority. Thank you "Problematic" Revenant #7, I have yet to find a way to repay him.
