Super repetitive levels. Hard? Sure, a little, but once you find the best route to take, its super fucking easy. Every map(until level 23 at least) it the exact same concept: start in open area, find the best route to take, then clear room. Next, find keys(boring now since you've killed everyone), defeat easy predictable traps, then exit map. EVERY. FUCKING. LEVEL. 2/5 from a huge PL1 fan.

This is the best fun I've had on Skulltag with Cooperative and Survival. Highly recommended. Although I did find it easier than Plutonia 1, the level designs are certainly better and the music is great! ~BurningCadavre

This is really, really good. When I first heard about this project, I didn't think it could be any better than the original Plutonia experiment. But, PL2 really surprised me. The gameplay doesn't at all deviate from the original Plutonia. It retains the "Feeling" of the original, and implements all different kinds of new creative design. Has lots o tricks and traps like the original. Difficulty is tuff, and not for the faint of heart. Definantly Cacoward material. 5/5 -r_rr

One of the best community megawads ever made, if not THE best. 5/5.

Kicked my ass on skill 2, but I definitely had a lot of fun playing it! Great work everybody. The fact that it's named Plutonia 2 isn't why it's a big deal: the brilliant team who created it is. :) -Essel

Complaints? Overuse of monster blocking lines and the sheer number of 300+ monster levels that felt like they were taking too long. I also didn't like some of the music. However, otherwise this is probably the best megawad you will play. Loved it on UV. 5* -Phobus

It's good, it's very good, it has some really good ideas and very challenging and classic doom action, although a bit too hard sometimes. 5/5 - Optimus

The levels have very similar layouts (they're all cramped and built in the same style, especially outdoors) and simply do not carry over the true feel of the original Plutonia. The WAD lacks the variety and girth to compete with its spiritual predecessor. However, the new music, new graphics, and the extension of the Plutonia theme are neat. I'll give this a 2.5/5, which will end up translating as a 3; but, honestly, this shouldn't have been named Plutonia 2.

Awesome maps for the most part. Very challenging and entertaining. Some of these are quite tedious and finishing the megawad felt like a chore after a while, but I can't knock it for the most part. Worthy of a download and playing the maps from a pistol start is great! -Snakes

One of my favorite megawads. Just like its prequel, PL2 offers a lot of fun and a whole shitload of monsters. This is a MUST for anyone who played the first one. And the secret levels are the best I've ever seen in a Megawad... 9/10 -spadeKing23-

Superb WAD. I love it. It certainly does justice to its predecessor by understanding what made it great, offering something similar yet a bit more over the top, yet without going to the "Hell Revealed" direction in general (which is not bad, but different from Plutonia.) 5/5 To the guy two comments above: Chocolate Doom has a setting for the save game limit. It'll do you good to learn how to use your source port of choice.

Looks great and plays great. Some abuse of teleporter ambush near the middle, and some levels don't really have the Plutonia feel, but it's great overall.

Absolutely horrible. The balance sucks, the levels are confusing and messy, and the music isn't anything great. Nothing saves this for me but the awesome HUD and menu graphics. It's barely anything like Plutonia, which was very fair, unlike this that throws arch-viles at you, at one point I picked up a plasma rifle, and was stuck inside of one. Stuff like that grants this no more than a 1/5.

About bleedin' time. Been waiting almost 8 years for this... and it was worth the wait. Up to map 20 so far and loving every minute of it. 5/5

I genuinely enjoyed this mod with its level design and music. It was challenging and interesting and it kept me playing a while after beating it to try to find anything. though I would say it was slightly repetitive and overwhelming with enemies at some moments.

Writing a review for Darkening 2 is tough. It's a beloved megawad, and for good reason. As many other reviewers have said, it is historically a very important project.   It was an important megawad for me personally. I fell in love with the first level in particular. The music, the realistic architecture, so reminiscent of the video games of the 90s... It all left a lasting impression. And it was one of the most beautiful wads I've seen at the time.   But I rarely played anyt

A competently made map, for sure, but fun? It's way too long and repetitive, with same-y combat & ambush scenarios used again and again, and with way too much enemies, and not that much of a challenge, even for me who isn't exactly fond of "SUPER HARD WAD #9263!!!!11!. You can cut the whole thing in half, and then cut THAT half in half, and it would be a better map. Is it bad? No, just a little bit above average, mostly because it drags a bit too long.

Generally good map design, but the difficulty as is the case with pwads tends to be uneven even on HMP, especially when you mix them with what slaughtermaps tend to be (monster spam). Too many parts where, after pressing a switch, you'll spend some time killing enemies only to realise the map maker tried to get cute and spawned a bunch of hidden archviles somewhere to start reviving everyone while you were busy wasting ammo. This is especially unfun in parts with very little cover where you'll b

I like the part where I pay for the numerous murders I committed by getting beaten up by either a Mancubus or an Arachnotron, it changed my outlook on Monster Priority. Thank you "Problematic" Revenant #7, I have yet to find a way to repay him.
