About This File

Initially started as a pure shotgun gameplay map. Only providing the shotgun weapon (although I also added the chaingun now because the enemies are too much) and hordes of monsters that take one shot to get down. Then I also tried my level design ideas (city lights at the beginning, stary sky at the end). And trying to finish this fast and release it, it became a hell of monster cramped map that take a long time to finish with those weapons especially in hard levels. But if you like such maps and pure shotgun action then this is for you.

This map offers a menu of gay action, but in the end it it ends up blowing my stack.

Slaughter map. Detail is give or take the amount you would see in a vanilla map. Overall decent.

The layout looked average at first, but the gameplay just went mega down hill from there. Just take a quick look and delete it if you bother to play this. Theres better slaughterfest maps out there.

Not all that bad if you like killing lots of zombies, shotgun guys and imps (with a sprinkling of lost souls, demons, cacos and a couple of barons) - but it's too dark in many places. Sorry.

this wad begs for an overpowered Weapon Mod to go along with it...if you just play it standard, you're gonna get a boring, bland level.-DZombie

Well, the detail is really low and the level quite bland. Many hitscanners and so on, one could complain but at the end it does exactly what is says: Shotgunning about 1442 enemies. It's do-able but you have to run some long roads back and forth to collect health and stuff.

Meh...too many dark areas, "shotgunning" 1442 monsters like take forever... In the outdoor area I have some fun, but indoor area... no fun, I did "sv_fastweapons 1" and get some fun with that. 2/5 (If I don't use cheat, I only gave 1/5. :( ) -playerlin

Very weak by 2009 standards. Probably best to avoid. 1/5

This map would have been better if it wasn't too fucking dark. 2/5

Hordes of monsters, an almost infinite supply of ammo, very basic layout and design. Most of the map is much too dark which sometimes makes fighting a little challenging, but other than that this is just about patiently keeping the fire button pressed and mowing down the monsters. Not really difficult, not really fun (certainly not after 15 minutes of it, anyway), not really worth your time. --2/5

This is dated Valentine's Day 2009, although in terms of design it's simpler than UAC_DEAD, which came out in June 1994. You kill 1,400+ mostly weak monsters in a disjointed mixture of parking garage, dungeon, and crate zone (it's not complicated enough to be a maze). In fact the crate area bored me senseless - you chaingun and snipe hundreds of hitscan baddies - and I gave up at that point and IDCLIP-ed to the stars at the end, which aren't all that.

It's not a parking garage but an army camp or it is supposed to be but LULZ :)

I genuinely enjoyed this mod with its level design and music. It was challenging and interesting and it kept me playing a while after beating it to try to find anything. though I would say it was slightly repetitive and overwhelming with enemies at some moments.

Writing a review for Darkening 2 is tough. It's a beloved megawad, and for good reason. As many other reviewers have said, it is historically a very important project.   It was an important megawad for me personally. I fell in love with the first level in particular. The music, the realistic architecture, so reminiscent of the video games of the 90s... It all left a lasting impression. And it was one of the most beautiful wads I've seen at the time.   But I rarely played anyt

A competently made map, for sure, but fun? It's way too long and repetitive, with same-y combat & ambush scenarios used again and again, and with way too much enemies, and not that much of a challenge, even for me who isn't exactly fond of "SUPER HARD WAD #9263!!!!11!. You can cut the whole thing in half, and then cut THAT half in half, and it would be a better map. Is it bad? No, just a little bit above average, mostly because it drags a bit too long.

Generally good map design, but the difficulty as is the case with pwads tends to be uneven even on HMP, especially when you mix them with what slaughtermaps tend to be (monster spam). Too many parts where, after pressing a switch, you'll spend some time killing enemies only to realise the map maker tried to get cute and spawned a bunch of hidden archviles somewhere to start reviving everyone while you were busy wasting ammo. This is especially unfun in parts with very little cover where you'll b

I like the part where I pay for the numerous murders I committed by getting beaten up by either a Mancubus or an Arachnotron, it changed my outlook on Monster Priority. Thank you "Problematic" Revenant #7, I have yet to find a way to repay him.
