About This File

A quick and simple little map as an antidote to the extensive, detailed, demanding work I just put into Bethlehem. This one features a castle. Have fun dudes.

Run it in ZDoom - and got instantly almost high due to the horrible HOMs. Stopped it, then tried GZDoom. Ran around a bit - and finished it abruptly after 47 seconds... Besides that all, it has almost no layout, looks primitive, and has @ UV about zero gameplay. IMHO creating this was a 100% waste-of-effort. /nofi

A small area with a castle and some other stuff to explore. The visuals are ruined by ZDoomisms if you play in prboom-plus. Not much action, not much to look at either, takes 2-3 minutes to play. Are you bored enough to download this?

Loads of problems in this map, HOM as far as the eye can see even in ZDoom. Only just enough ammo to survive, and the map is woefully short once you actually manage to fight back and get somewhere. The castle looked more like a cave chiseled out of a mountain, but there was no roof! Add that to the 3D start problem and we have a mess 1/5

You should aways test your DOOM2.EXE maps with Vanilla or Chocolate Doom You should : Set Sector15's celling height to 32. Set Sector4's celling height to 64. Set a texture To lindef33 or Create e sector similar to sector15 for the sky But with celling and floor To 48. Same for Lindef 34. To remove lindef 87 and 97 problem you can lower sector 7 of 1 inch and set a lower texture to lines 86, 87, and 97. And Remove This Stupis 3D start thing. Not so bad over all

A very short outdoors map. It was way too short for my taste, but it was still ok. Bah! 3/5 stars.

Mediocre map. Kind of random, aimless design and the gameplay lacks focus. It's easy just to run to the exit too. I didn't see anything I'd call a "castle" either.

Aside from the renderer issue in software with all the HOMs everywhere, this level-ette is actually quite nice, and pretty good. Intense start and it gets easier the more you progress (i.e. the less opposition you've left standing, the less you get shot at...) 3* -Phobus

I genuinely enjoyed this mod with its level design and music. It was challenging and interesting and it kept me playing a while after beating it to try to find anything. though I would say it was slightly repetitive and overwhelming with enemies at some moments.

Writing a review for Darkening 2 is tough. It's a beloved megawad, and for good reason. As many other reviewers have said, it is historically a very important project.   It was an important megawad for me personally. I fell in love with the first level in particular. The music, the realistic architecture, so reminiscent of the video games of the 90s... It all left a lasting impression. And it was one of the most beautiful wads I've seen at the time.   But I rarely played anyt

A competently made map, for sure, but fun? It's way too long and repetitive, with same-y combat & ambush scenarios used again and again, and with way too much enemies, and not that much of a challenge, even for me who isn't exactly fond of "SUPER HARD WAD #9263!!!!11!. You can cut the whole thing in half, and then cut THAT half in half, and it would be a better map. Is it bad? No, just a little bit above average, mostly because it drags a bit too long.

Generally good map design, but the difficulty as is the case with pwads tends to be uneven even on HMP, especially when you mix them with what slaughtermaps tend to be (monster spam). Too many parts where, after pressing a switch, you'll spend some time killing enemies only to realise the map maker tried to get cute and spawned a bunch of hidden archviles somewhere to start reviving everyone while you were busy wasting ammo. This is especially unfun in parts with very little cover where you'll b

I like the part where I pay for the numerous murders I committed by getting beaten up by either a Mancubus or an Arachnotron, it changed my outlook on Monster Priority. Thank you "Problematic" Revenant #7, I have yet to find a way to repay him.
