About This File

My first upload, and my first map that I felt is worth sharing. A blue-and-silverish kind of techbase. Criticism and comments would be appreciated!

Pig things, cacodemons + pain elemental. Single shotgun. Screw you. Delete file.

Pretty decent for a first map, though each room feels like it's a separate section all stuck together to make one level. Starts off a bit too easy, I don't think I took damage until the teleport after the red key. 3/5

An enjoyable map. Sometimes bland, and indeed not too hard, but I don't see it as a bad thing. Having to fight a PE with only a shotgun is kind of boring though, and against the archvile it'd be nicer if detail didn't get in the way (moving up and down because of these borders). 4/5

Pretty Decent for a first map. Game play was easy, but spot on. Detail had a more modern vanilla feel or so. No SSG at start is always a plus. Despite everything good about this map, its still average at best, but keep up the good work. ***

This is dated August 2009. It's a generic... futuristic office-style level with a very small sunny outdoorsy bit that feels too happy for Doom. The gameplay is decent overall, with a couple of good fights, although oddly structured (arch-vile near the beginning, the "big fight" in the middle, easy ending). Design, layout, detailing etc are all vintage 1995, but solid.

I think the name for this map is too self-effacing :p. I liked it, even though I wasn't sure that I would. You used primarily blue and silver tech textures, but mixed them in a way that turned out to be strangely beautiful and original. The "shell" of the facility was well designed, fairly complex, but the interior could be a little more multi-faceted (structure-wise), if that makes sense. The battles were surprisingly good, sometimes a bit tough. Overall, this is a pretty good first map. 3.5/5

I have to say this was pretty good. Very fluent level. Gameplay was challenging and fair at the same time and was fun as well. This is pretty good for your first map. My father would've loved this wad if he were still alive today. Overall, I'd like to see another map by you since you've got the hang of level building pretty well. Keep up the good work. -Alando1

I genuinely enjoyed this mod with its level design and music. It was challenging and interesting and it kept me playing a while after beating it to try to find anything. though I would say it was slightly repetitive and overwhelming with enemies at some moments.

Writing a review for Darkening 2 is tough. It's a beloved megawad, and for good reason. As many other reviewers have said, it is historically a very important project.   It was an important megawad for me personally. I fell in love with the first level in particular. The music, the realistic architecture, so reminiscent of the video games of the 90s... It all left a lasting impression. And it was one of the most beautiful wads I've seen at the time.   But I rarely played anyt

A competently made map, for sure, but fun? It's way too long and repetitive, with same-y combat & ambush scenarios used again and again, and with way too much enemies, and not that much of a challenge, even for me who isn't exactly fond of "SUPER HARD WAD #9263!!!!11!. You can cut the whole thing in half, and then cut THAT half in half, and it would be a better map. Is it bad? No, just a little bit above average, mostly because it drags a bit too long.

Generally good map design, but the difficulty as is the case with pwads tends to be uneven even on HMP, especially when you mix them with what slaughtermaps tend to be (monster spam). Too many parts where, after pressing a switch, you'll spend some time killing enemies only to realise the map maker tried to get cute and spawned a bunch of hidden archviles somewhere to start reviving everyone while you were busy wasting ammo. This is especially unfun in parts with very little cover where you'll b

I like the part where I pay for the numerous murders I committed by getting beaten up by either a Mancubus or an Arachnotron, it changed my outlook on Monster Priority. Thank you "Problematic" Revenant #7, I have yet to find a way to repay him.
