About This File

This is a ridiculously difficult Boom-compatible map I made in the spirit of Erik Alm's eaxt.WAD. The only incentive for playing this map on UV is purely for the sake of the challenge and to see if you can complete a seemingly impossible task, as this map is otherwise completely unplayable or fun for any other reason. If you want a fairly upbeat, but managable challenge, play HMP. If you want a more casual run, play ITYTD or NTR.

One of the best slaughterfests I've ever played. Hard as Hell but absolutely amazing. The visuals are great, the gameplay is exciting, and the music is a perfect fit. Relatively short as well. My only gripes are the thin bridge area with all the Mancubi and Imps attacking you and the extreme amounts of Arch-vile spam in the blue key section. Play this WAD. Now.

Extra hard map that will test your skills for real and no, it's actually possible to beat it on UV under ~ 1 hour 10 minutes or less if you are good enough / lucky. Not require to be doomgod for it.

Options: GZDoom 4.5.0, no mods, Ultra-Violence.

Map specifics: originally no places to hide, lava that deal damage in hub location, a lot of demons (~ 1600+), some can teleport to random locations on your way, low ammo sometimes, a lot of traps.

You can find my walkthrough / hints about here:

well I must be a filthy casual.

no matter what difficulty you play on, No Chance's title pretty much checks out. the encounters make it so that you have no chance at something, if you screw up slightly, you won't have a chance of survival, but in all difficulty cases, there's not a hair to be unscathed here. get ready to run at the start, although by run I mean "get a better weapon than the shotguns" because you'll want to get both a rocket launcher and plasma gun. it's hard to tell which is the better option, the dangerous route over the actually damaging lava (oddly enough, the only damaging lava in-game is in that area) or the one next to the arch-vile to get the plasma gun? then make sure that one key is grabbed to get that BFG. oh, and practically every dead-end will trigger a nasty teleport trap. the longer hallways are rife with arch-viles and mancubi in each and every nook imaginable. also it may be just me but I expect this map to actually be a lot larger. I dunno why.

now if you look at the thing placement, there's definitely room for the Doom gods on UV, just look at the DMMPST and the sudden rise of arch-viles and revenants between skills 3 and 4. oddly enough, there are no hitscanners unless you play UV (45 chaingunners), while the imp and cacodemon count lowers a bit (possibly to make room for more revenants), and only one spiderdemon shows up on UV. needless to say, prepare to get killed pretty much any second if you ever decide to touch this on UV. this is one of those maps you MUST play on a lower setting to ease into for the higher settings.

A Hell themed Cave that is insanely difficult ! ! !

Really enjoyed it ...finished on UV.... but still can't get it out of my head ... it is a sweet torture !

Note : one must save and load a lot ... I used monster infighting to my advantage

Played it using GZdoom ...Too many monsters , Good map design

It is simply Relentless ...

While fighting the revenants near the end  an arch vile attack send me flying towards the exist

I almost lost all my health yet barely made it to the (eye) Exist ...

One of the most insane maps i've played !

One of the most iconic DD's maps because of its extreme difficulty. No Chance consists to explore a non-linear large red cave housed by a thousand of viciously placed monsters. A lot of unpredictable deadly ambushes await you and DD gave you few items to let you survive.

No Chance is a masterpiece and a must for maxxers looking for sadistic challenging maps. As go 2 it or Playground from HR2 , No Chance showed how hard a doom map can be. This map was released 10 years ago but aged very well contrary to many hard maps and still need a lot of skill and patience to be finished.

Here is my UV saveless Demo (maybe boring to watch but whatever !)

Pretty fun, if a bit excessively cruel with the monster placements.

Not as good as 32 inch nails 05, but same style. A very good map in HMP. 4.5/5

Eventually got through it on UV with saves..., too hard to be enjoyable at that level, but worth a look.

I have no idea why but, if your intention was just to make a impossible Map, you did very well! 5/5 - Logan MTM

Ridiclousness to the max that could make HR series a cakewalk, still enjoyable how to get through those nigh-impossible battles. 5 stars.

5/5 really fun, brings back memories of Go2It from Plutonia. 2nd reviewer above me, epic fail, stop trying to make yourself seem like some Doom god who worships UV, I'd like to see you do a run of Sunder on UV.

Excessive use of teleporter ambushes throughout, in most cases resulting in instant death if one does not react instinctively. I can't help but admire DD's unique ambush teleporter style creating a chaotically fresh style of gameplay. You'll be doing yourself a great injustice if played on HMP, which butchers the challenge significantly. As a hardcore masochist UV was exceptional but not as grueling as the majority make it out to be, completed

Great fun, reminds me of 32inchnails map 5. As stated in the description, it is actually impossible in UV. I should read it before trying it. It is possible in HMP, attest. 5/5

Another one of those unfairly difficult maps that pop around these days. Calling this map hard is certainly an understatement. Unusually for its kind, this actually has pretty decent level-design, and offers a lot of Fun for the doomgods wanting a challenge. Highly Recommended for DoomGods, but beware of it if you're new or casual, as you will not survive more than 30 seconds in this hectic monstrosity.

I genuinely enjoyed this mod with its level design and music. It was challenging and interesting and it kept me playing a while after beating it to try to find anything. though I would say it was slightly repetitive and overwhelming with enemies at some moments.

Writing a review for Darkening 2 is tough. It's a beloved megawad, and for good reason. As many other reviewers have said, it is historically a very important project.   It was an important megawad for me personally. I fell in love with the first level in particular. The music, the realistic architecture, so reminiscent of the video games of the 90s... It all left a lasting impression. And it was one of the most beautiful wads I've seen at the time.   But I rarely played anyt

A competently made map, for sure, but fun? It's way too long and repetitive, with same-y combat & ambush scenarios used again and again, and with way too much enemies, and not that much of a challenge, even for me who isn't exactly fond of "SUPER HARD WAD #9263!!!!11!. You can cut the whole thing in half, and then cut THAT half in half, and it would be a better map. Is it bad? No, just a little bit above average, mostly because it drags a bit too long.

Generally good map design, but the difficulty as is the case with pwads tends to be uneven even on HMP, especially when you mix them with what slaughtermaps tend to be (monster spam). Too many parts where, after pressing a switch, you'll spend some time killing enemies only to realise the map maker tried to get cute and spawned a bunch of hidden archviles somewhere to start reviving everyone while you were busy wasting ammo. This is especially unfun in parts with very little cover where you'll b

I like the part where I pay for the numerous murders I committed by getting beaten up by either a Mancubus or an Arachnotron, it changed my outlook on Monster Priority. Thank you "Problematic" Revenant #7, I have yet to find a way to repay him.
