best megawad I have EVER PLAYED! the levels weren't too long or short, the music was awesome, each level had a great theme, and even had some innovative challenges! 5/5!!!

Nice wad, played through it in coop. Some hard parts but god was the ending easier. Had us all paranoid then it was one of the easiest levels of all. We sniped the end with RL from stairs. Dunno if you are supposed to be able to do that, haha.

I like the basic ideas for many maps, though this wad is not for me, there's way too much symmetry and copy/pasting, that it severly hurts gameplay.

^ A new version of WOS is coming soon which will contain an all new MAP06 and several other fixes such as fixing the co-op gameplay in MAP29. -P.C

I am disappointed with this megawad. First twenty maps are symmetrical, easy and boring. Then there are some good maps (maps 14,22,25,28,30 are very good). Overall a fun megawas for non-experts, but it's not a masterpiece. 3.5/5

This is one of my top megawads, very solid mapset, I can't believe some blind reviewers dislike the first levels, yeah, some symmetrical stuff bothers me, but this file has lot of valuable work in it. 4 stars.

Very, very good wad. I loved every minute of playing it. Definitely got a lot of gameplay time out of this one, and without a doubt goes down as one of the greatest megawads in DOOM history!

^Keep playing, this problem becomes fairly rare after Map10 or so. Way too many good maps & too much work put into this for anything, anything less than 5 stars. And as ^ eluded, even the maps that do have symmetry aren't bad at all. At least look at all the maps before rating.

Whispers of Satan, it's a fairly pedestrian megawad, slated to be the last releases for both respective authors at the time, but that proved to be false as both are still active in the community. what can be said about WOS? well, it's a fairly standard megawad with original music and well-designed levels, plus a palette which is actually unique to it. combat scales fairly, and levels are actually not that large. quite a few secret levels though, all of which are interesting in their own right. Paul's love for Wolfenstein shows in MAP32, which is one of the larger maps, but it's obviously not the best thing he's done. I give lots of credit to the well-designed hell levels, especially MAP25.

one aspect you will notice about almost every level is how each and every switch is done in a Quake-like puzzle, basically one of those "one more to go, sequence complete" type things, which adds to the pedestrian-like nature of WOS. it's a recurring theme that some people may not like, but it's not something that is truly detrimental to the wad. some of them are more creative than others, like with MAP25 as above. none of these are truly awful switchhunts so they all work out just nicely. overall, Whispers of Satan is on the level of the classic megawads like Requiem, while not amazing in the trick department, is well kept for the design department, and good enough for the gameplay.

When I have to stop the game to watch the overall design... there's some piece of art in there. I thank you both for this excellent megawad; there aren't much of those these days. The gameplay was easy for me even at fast monsters, and there was some symmetry and/or repitition but that did not kill it for me. I really enjoyed. 4.2 PFL [A 5, nowadays, would be the partially finished Psychophobia, killer]

I waited a long time for this and I wasn't disappointed. The maps are all star quality, top notch and amazing in every reference possible. Everything beyond Map12 is gorgeous. The secret maps were awesome (Except for 35. Or at least the last part of it.) and very original. Well deserved 5/5 and beyond, pure Cacoward material. Bravo PC and Nebula. - Moti

Well, very good but not flawless. Way too much symmetry and copy-paste at times. 4 of 5 from me.

Its a pretty good wad. Noticed an improvement from Paul and Kristian's previous wads design-wise and music-wise. Good job guys.

I genuinely enjoyed this mod with its level design and music. It was challenging and interesting and it kept me playing a while after beating it to try to find anything. though I would say it was slightly repetitive and overwhelming with enemies at some moments.

Writing a review for Darkening 2 is tough. It's a beloved megawad, and for good reason. As many other reviewers have said, it is historically a very important project.   It was an important megawad for me personally. I fell in love with the first level in particular. The music, the realistic architecture, so reminiscent of the video games of the 90s... It all left a lasting impression. And it was one of the most beautiful wads I've seen at the time.   But I rarely played anyt

A competently made map, for sure, but fun? It's way too long and repetitive, with same-y combat & ambush scenarios used again and again, and with way too much enemies, and not that much of a challenge, even for me who isn't exactly fond of "SUPER HARD WAD #9263!!!!11!. You can cut the whole thing in half, and then cut THAT half in half, and it would be a better map. Is it bad? No, just a little bit above average, mostly because it drags a bit too long.

Generally good map design, but the difficulty as is the case with pwads tends to be uneven even on HMP, especially when you mix them with what slaughtermaps tend to be (monster spam). Too many parts where, after pressing a switch, you'll spend some time killing enemies only to realise the map maker tried to get cute and spawned a bunch of hidden archviles somewhere to start reviving everyone while you were busy wasting ammo. This is especially unfun in parts with very little cover where you'll b

I like the part where I pay for the numerous murders I committed by getting beaten up by either a Mancubus or an Arachnotron, it changed my outlook on Monster Priority. Thank you "Problematic" Revenant #7, I have yet to find a way to repay him.
