Good map - 4/5 ; would be 5/5 but there is a bug at the end where you can get stuck outside the lift. Good effort :D

What jerk rated this only a 2/5? This map is clearly worthy of a much better rating then that. Gameplay is solid and fun, there are clever traps. And the visuals are pleasing. 4/5 stars from me. -Hardcore_gamer.

This is dated January 2010, as per the title. You fight 133 baddies in a good-looking although slightly old-fashioned techbase, with a variation on the "cool blue" colour scheme that was popular a few years ago (this one is "cool green"). The gameplay is good fun, untaxing, although it gets harder towards the end, especially if you're going for 100% kills. Reminded me a bit of The Darkening 2, no bad thing.

Start of a good run of nugget-sized map by this guy, that are right up my alley. It wouldn't be unreasonable to compile them all into one wad though. Still that doesn't affect the score.

A bright and nicely detailed "gritty techbase" with some fitting new textures and desaturated Doom 2 / TNT textures. Well-placed and dangerous traps keep you on your feet tho the inclusion of the SSG makes things kinda easy, especially with the amount of cover you can take from Revenants and Archviles. Wish there was more of a chance for the Manc and Arachno to infight. Love the visuals in the end lift, music suits well too. A good fun few minutes. 4/5 jj

Pro: attention to detail Con: Unimaginative. Same old rectilinear rooms that everyone else makes. Uninspired and rather boring to play. You might make a good accountant. 2 / 5

Worth playing. I got about 90% the way through recording a first demo attempt only to get stuck (jumped backward off the lift) so had to exit and start again. I felt skill level was a bit too easy on UV.

You made it for fun, eh? Well, good, because that what it is. Well-made map worth playing through in your free time. Nice gameplay and a good look in general... It's all very 40oz.

Meh. Linear, easy, boxy, and predictable.

The texturing themes feel fresh, even though totally disjointed. Interesting music. Many traps are boring and thankfully can be easily avoided. At the end you can get on the lift without triggering it, then step back and it will rise without you and you will get stuck. Overall not great but the visuals are weird/unusual, which is a plus of course.

Fun, although pretty easy, rather linear and rather boxy. I liked the textures and music. Solid would be a good word to describe it. I'll say 4* -Phobus

The area behind the blue key door clashes badly with the rest of the map, but other than that this was pretty damn fun with some clever traps in there. Maybe the ssg could have been given a little later, that early it made the single shotty almost pointless. Much better to play than Motornerve. 4/5 -jodwin

I found a flaw in the map. When I got on the elevator (that you find when you go through the blue door I believe) it didn't go up. So I thought maybe I needed to press some sort of switch. I waited like five seconds and then I got off the elevator and it went up without me. I had to use the clipping cheat in order to get up there since you can't lower the thing once it goes up. Otherwise 4/5

I genuinely enjoyed this mod with its level design and music. It was challenging and interesting and it kept me playing a while after beating it to try to find anything. though I would say it was slightly repetitive and overwhelming with enemies at some moments.

Writing a review for Darkening 2 is tough. It's a beloved megawad, and for good reason. As many other reviewers have said, it is historically a very important project.   It was an important megawad for me personally. I fell in love with the first level in particular. The music, the realistic architecture, so reminiscent of the video games of the 90s... It all left a lasting impression. And it was one of the most beautiful wads I've seen at the time.   But I rarely played anyt

A competently made map, for sure, but fun? It's way too long and repetitive, with same-y combat & ambush scenarios used again and again, and with way too much enemies, and not that much of a challenge, even for me who isn't exactly fond of "SUPER HARD WAD #9263!!!!11!. You can cut the whole thing in half, and then cut THAT half in half, and it would be a better map. Is it bad? No, just a little bit above average, mostly because it drags a bit too long.

Generally good map design, but the difficulty as is the case with pwads tends to be uneven even on HMP, especially when you mix them with what slaughtermaps tend to be (monster spam). Too many parts where, after pressing a switch, you'll spend some time killing enemies only to realise the map maker tried to get cute and spawned a bunch of hidden archviles somewhere to start reviving everyone while you were busy wasting ammo. This is especially unfun in parts with very little cover where you'll b

I like the part where I pay for the numerous murders I committed by getting beaten up by either a Mancubus or an Arachnotron, it changed my outlook on Monster Priority. Thank you "Problematic" Revenant #7, I have yet to find a way to repay him.
