Fun level, but easy to complete :p. Still worth a play though.

I downloaded it expecting some type of semi-jokewad/intenti onally mediocre map. However that's not what I got. This maps is actually quite good, definitely worth a playthrough. In fact I wouldn't mind a whole episode of maps like this.

Pretty fun and rather easy - certainly a well done map. There was one trap that I saw coming, but proved to have considerably more teeth than I was expecting, do all in all, some of the best you can get for what it was after. 4* -Phobus

Not bad for a 1994-esque map. The only negative aspect to this map is the red key is still obtainable even with the yellow bars surrounding it. The yellow bars are too close to the red key, thus making it possible for a player to just run and grab the key without opening the yellow bars. Aside from that, it's not a bad map. 3/5

Nice oldschool map that plays well. For some reason a teleport monster trap didn't trigger here. 4/5 - Optimus

Pretty good, nice realistic design, good gameplay, good texture usage. I wish all Doom wads were like this. The only letdown is you can grab the red card (as explained above) and run straight to the exit. 3.5 stars from PCORF

How did you manage to grab the red keycard? I tried bumping all day but it wont add to the inventory.

Broken since the read card key can be taken while yellow bars are still present. Still, a ok effort I guess. 3/5 stars.

This is a old-school 1995 map, and it's good, even some flaws happens but it's still good for 1995 map. 3.5/5 -playerlin

A charmingly straightforward map. I hope to see more of this author's works in the future. My only beef is that the difficulty goes from 'walk in the park' to 'fatal' as soon as you get the blue key. I tried this part twice; couldn't stand to try it again. Still, please make more wads!

Quite nice really. (And keygrabs don't mean a map is "broken" - just that it's got a shortcut for speedrunning.) Anyhow, I enjoyed it.

I genuinely enjoyed this mod with its level design and music. It was challenging and interesting and it kept me playing a while after beating it to try to find anything. though I would say it was slightly repetitive and overwhelming with enemies at some moments.

Writing a review for Darkening 2 is tough. It's a beloved megawad, and for good reason. As many other reviewers have said, it is historically a very important project.   It was an important megawad for me personally. I fell in love with the first level in particular. The music, the realistic architecture, so reminiscent of the video games of the 90s... It all left a lasting impression. And it was one of the most beautiful wads I've seen at the time.   But I rarely played anyt

A competently made map, for sure, but fun? It's way too long and repetitive, with same-y combat & ambush scenarios used again and again, and with way too much enemies, and not that much of a challenge, even for me who isn't exactly fond of "SUPER HARD WAD #9263!!!!11!. You can cut the whole thing in half, and then cut THAT half in half, and it would be a better map. Is it bad? No, just a little bit above average, mostly because it drags a bit too long.

Generally good map design, but the difficulty as is the case with pwads tends to be uneven even on HMP, especially when you mix them with what slaughtermaps tend to be (monster spam). Too many parts where, after pressing a switch, you'll spend some time killing enemies only to realise the map maker tried to get cute and spawned a bunch of hidden archviles somewhere to start reviving everyone while you were busy wasting ammo. This is especially unfun in parts with very little cover where you'll b

I like the part where I pay for the numerous murders I committed by getting beaten up by either a Mancubus or an Arachnotron, it changed my outlook on Monster Priority. Thank you "Problematic" Revenant #7, I have yet to find a way to repay him.
