Fantastic gameplay and design. One of the best pwads for me. A bit hard, but funny. 5/5

I lost interest in playing further because it is impossible to remember where to go - it`s too confusing and destroys the fun; atmosphere is terrific - could have been very great, 4/5

One of the best, if not the best PWADS ever made. Definitely a cacoward contender. The build time was only 4-5 months? Wow, it would probably take me over a year to do something like this. 5/5 ~Sonikku

Holy shit, the ending was just... it gave me chills in a sense. Though the only problem I had was finding keys. Other than that, I agree with Paul Schneider, this needs to be nominated for Cacowards. Definitely a *****

This was amazitastical. Definitely one of the most terrifying things I have ever played. This requires both a sequel and a Cacoaward... and maybe more health packs. -Xan

This is probably the most atmospheric doom mod I have ever played. I really enjoyed it. There were lot of inovative ideas and well used new resources. Unfortunately I cannot give 5* to it because of the gameplay. Maybe I am just too poor player, but near the end I had often problems to fight the hordes in cramped rooms with obstacles. Yeah... but overall it was really good. 4/5 - Damned

Hands down the best Wad I have played this year, hell the last few years. Amazingly atmospheric, great music choices, sweet hub based game play, great sense of progression through out, simply amazing in every aspect I can think of. The only time I ever felt lost was when playing the first few releases with the bug that caused you to get stuck with no way to progress. since they have been fixed I never feel lost. 6 out of 5, keep up the great work and here's to a definite Caco Award.

A personal favorite. The maps are very well-done, though there are a few areas that are rather difficult on UV. Maps are very detailed and well-done, and the author does a good job setting the mood.

This was pretty much a disappointment. With my expectation set up really high with all the positive comments, it ended up an anti-climax. Design wasn't bad at all, but the gameplay left a lot to be desired. Atmosphere was great, but I think mainly the silent hill music gives it more credit than it deserved. Would've been 4 stars but the overload of 5 makes it 3 instead.

Best WAD I ever played. Finished in UV. I miss this kind of gameplay in modern games. IT IS possible to run every part of this wad without taking damage, so it is just a matter of save abusing. AND I LOVE SAVE ABUSING! It pushes you to the limit! It makes you want to do it even better! I love how the wad demands an even better run from the player. The wad is creepy, fun, HARD but not frustating (learn to use dificulty modes) and It was one of the best gaming experience I ever had. 5/5

The Cacowards sent me here. And I'm glad they did. The atmosphere creation here is just suburb, the feeling that the real threat is the level itself and not so much the monsters, now THAT is hard to pull off. I salute you sir, you are one of my inspirations to make WADs of my own.

This wad was scary, and very challenging, but it was very good. The ending confused the hell outta me though. 5/5

This wad proves to be a excellent testing ground for my flashlight weapon wad (it's not really a good weapon for all situations) and maybe online. Since the title is 'unloved', I guess the propagonist finds himself truly awake as the 'unloved'. Either that or he found his never-to-be-known brother. The first thing to say is 'What up bro'. ~4 *s

Mixed bag. Amount of work: 5/5. Ambiance: 5/5. Level design: mostly 4.5 but with a few boring places, such as the foggy open areas. Playability @UV: quite often disappointing due to monster floods in too crampy places, and the key hunt. Verdict: 5/5 for a fantastic adventure, 3/5 for playability, so overall 4/5.

I genuinely enjoyed this mod with its level design and music. It was challenging and interesting and it kept me playing a while after beating it to try to find anything. though I would say it was slightly repetitive and overwhelming with enemies at some moments.

Writing a review for Darkening 2 is tough. It's a beloved megawad, and for good reason. As many other reviewers have said, it is historically a very important project.   It was an important megawad for me personally. I fell in love with the first level in particular. The music, the realistic architecture, so reminiscent of the video games of the 90s... It all left a lasting impression. And it was one of the most beautiful wads I've seen at the time.   But I rarely played anyt

A competently made map, for sure, but fun? It's way too long and repetitive, with same-y combat & ambush scenarios used again and again, and with way too much enemies, and not that much of a challenge, even for me who isn't exactly fond of "SUPER HARD WAD #9263!!!!11!. You can cut the whole thing in half, and then cut THAT half in half, and it would be a better map. Is it bad? No, just a little bit above average, mostly because it drags a bit too long.

Generally good map design, but the difficulty as is the case with pwads tends to be uneven even on HMP, especially when you mix them with what slaughtermaps tend to be (monster spam). Too many parts where, after pressing a switch, you'll spend some time killing enemies only to realise the map maker tried to get cute and spawned a bunch of hidden archviles somewhere to start reviving everyone while you were busy wasting ammo. This is especially unfun in parts with very little cover where you'll b

I like the part where I pay for the numerous murders I committed by getting beaten up by either a Mancubus or an Arachnotron, it changed my outlook on Monster Priority. Thank you "Problematic" Revenant #7, I have yet to find a way to repay him.
