Brutally fun, the maps architecture are fantastic, really reminiscent of vanilla HeXen, good music although I'd had used a couple from Vanilla, especially for the swamp, my only real complain is that the puzzles are a bit too long and a bit unclear, but hey, that's natural in HeXen.

Overall, 5/5, long, but absolutely worth it.

OMG I was really suprised by this spectacular megawad. So much fun... Not too hard, not too easy. Level design is breath-taking sometimes. Music from Castlevania is good choice. Boss fights were amazing. I really enjoyed the fight with advanced Heresiarch and the final fight in the chess space. For me, definitely 5/5! (enkeli33)

One of the best hubs for Hexen, and one that is actually superior to the original game IMO, mainly due to confusion reasons. Highly recommended, unless you hate Hexen regardless of its complexity.

It's technically not as impressive as Serpent: Resurrection, but it should be enjoyable to more. Not worth 5 stars, but 4 it easily earns.

Incredibly well done all around, very fun and full of creative and interesting environments and effects. The finale has to be one of the best I've ever seen. An absolute favorite, particularly when played alongside Wrath of Cronos.

This is how HeXen PWADs should be. A great balance between good-looking and not-overcomplicated levels, clever use of bosses and custom monsters, atmospheric locations. Honestly, I enjoyed this even more than HeXen itself... 5*

Gameplay is true to hexen. Above average level design, some annoying bugs and gameplay. Certainly the most enjoyable Hexen wad thus far. Shitty music choices though. 4/5

I like this! But you could have used less centaurs as they are annoying with their temporary invulnerability. 4/5 - Zalewa

Excellently done! I even love the scripts and the battle with Korax at end. But as in original Hexen, battle with Korax was still easy! 5/5 -Doomer95

Epic. All the new monsters and/or their variants actually feel like part of the Hexen universe. And the levels are of higher detail and size than in most user-made map sets. Can't fault this. Only problem is Koraz, as ever, is too easy to beat if you just keep pummelling him.

Not the most advanced or complex HeXen hub. But well made.

I have never played Hexen Deathkings, so I will compare this wad to original Hexen! Puzzles are better, design is top-notch, traps are clever, difficulty is all-right! I would give this a solid 5/5! P.S: Does anyone know where I can get Hexen Deathkings since I never had chance to get it in past? It feels shameful that in all these years I only played regular Hexen so many times, along with custom wads, yet I never played Deathkings official expansion! Anyone?

This game is wonderful. Even though I use quicken and unlimited ammo, it wasn't a walk in the park. I was able to understand how hubs work from this mod. Please make more levels! hugs from a true hexen fan. Barbara

Absolutely Amazing, this is the most advance Hub I've ever seen, and you didn't spoil it with lame baddies, stupid sound effects, and crappy textures. You put awesome Aria of Sorrow and SOTN music in, made use of Zdoom and Hexen's scripting, 3D sector above sector, slopes, boxes bobbing in swamp, and a 3DFX effect at the end. All together with story and great gameplay. -Dharmesh -Fighter Skill 4 - 2hrs

I genuinely enjoyed this mod with its level design and music. It was challenging and interesting and it kept me playing a while after beating it to try to find anything. though I would say it was slightly repetitive and overwhelming with enemies at some moments.

Writing a review for Darkening 2 is tough. It's a beloved megawad, and for good reason. As many other reviewers have said, it is historically a very important project.   It was an important megawad for me personally. I fell in love with the first level in particular. The music, the realistic architecture, so reminiscent of the video games of the 90s... It all left a lasting impression. And it was one of the most beautiful wads I've seen at the time.   But I rarely played anyt

A competently made map, for sure, but fun? It's way too long and repetitive, with same-y combat & ambush scenarios used again and again, and with way too much enemies, and not that much of a challenge, even for me who isn't exactly fond of "SUPER HARD WAD #9263!!!!11!. You can cut the whole thing in half, and then cut THAT half in half, and it would be a better map. Is it bad? No, just a little bit above average, mostly because it drags a bit too long.

Generally good map design, but the difficulty as is the case with pwads tends to be uneven even on HMP, especially when you mix them with what slaughtermaps tend to be (monster spam). Too many parts where, after pressing a switch, you'll spend some time killing enemies only to realise the map maker tried to get cute and spawned a bunch of hidden archviles somewhere to start reviving everyone while you were busy wasting ammo. This is especially unfun in parts with very little cover where you'll b

I like the part where I pay for the numerous murders I committed by getting beaten up by either a Mancubus or an Arachnotron, it changed my outlook on Monster Priority. Thank you "Problematic" Revenant #7, I have yet to find a way to repay him.
