Design wise, this is simply a masterpiece. Gameplay wise it is also brilliant. I have no complaints at all, it's that good. A must play level. -TRRobin.

Very nice, good-looking architecture. Gameplay @ UV is not too difficult, monster placement is balanced. Parts of the level are imo a little bit too dark, this combined with invisible monsters is not original anymore nowadays. The end is disappointing because of a missing final fight. Music is well choosen. Overall: solid 4/5, so absolutely worth a try.

Fantastically good deco and ambiance with very good game play. Only criticism is that I got lost at one point hunting for a switch/door. May want to think about how to make them stand out a bit more if possible. Hope to see more from you!

Another great wad. Too short and maybe to easy however it was visually stunning and the atmosphere was amazing. Great job! 4/5

This was kind of spooky and very intense. The structure is gorgeously done, featuring the perfect amount of detail and lots of originality. There's nothing "typical" about this industrial complex. I liked the dark, dreary lighting, too. Made the atmosphere more suspenseful. I wish it were longer, though. It felt too short :(. 4/5

Superb map! Manages to evoke similar atmosphere as Doom 64 without slavish obedience to D64 art-style - feels like something D64 team would have created if they had better technology at their disposal. There is some backtracking but great visuals and superb atmosphere make it more than bearable. I particularly like how you used monster spawns to nudge player in right direction - something very few maps of this size do right. 5/5

Nice map, even through it's short and a little dark on my screen, but it's OK. I have some fun on it. 4.5/5 -playerlin

The name of this wad is a misnomer: none of this wad takes place in Valhalla, but for some of you it may feel like it. This lone level takes place in a dark, dirty, industrial-tech base, using mostly new and beautiful (and very brown) textures. Gameplay is basic and pretty easy, but it's still worth a couple minutes of play. GZDoom players, use "dark" sector lighting mode. 3/5

5/5, it's great, even with merely decent gameplay. Marking 3/5 just for being easy is kinda harsh. Just my opinion.

Gorgeous design, very visceral feel to it. Good ambient music too. Gameplay was a bit predictable. Well done. 4/5

iD Software should hire Ed Cripps to make Doom 4. This, along with his sequel, Putrefier really captured the feeling of being the last, lone human on Earth/wherever you are fighting off the legions of Hell. Well, that's how they both felt to me at least. The music certainly added to the feeling of isolation. I'd give it more than five stars if I could. :D -Nems

Awesomely good looking. Gameplay is passable, nothing hugely special though. It doesn't take a lot of time to finish, either. Still, 4/5.

The most inspiringly original ZDoom wad I've played in years. The gameplay is fun and challenging, and the atmosphere totally pulled me in. Great-looking design without parroting the styles of other maps. Impressive as hell, all around. 5/5

Very well presented map - good ambience, nice layout and great architecture and texturing. However, I got to the end and couldn't help but think "Is that it?". Having only missed one secret and two monsters, and with the gameplay being quite a breeze, the 20 minute play-time felt rather short. 4* -Phobus

This map is so good. I will say this, though; this map does not joke around. I was barely surviving on UV, so anyone looking for a nice, leisurely kill fest... should still try this. It might not be easy, but it is one of the best wads here. Go play it, now. 5/5

I genuinely enjoyed this mod with its level design and music. It was challenging and interesting and it kept me playing a while after beating it to try to find anything. though I would say it was slightly repetitive and overwhelming with enemies at some moments.

Writing a review for Darkening 2 is tough. It's a beloved megawad, and for good reason. As many other reviewers have said, it is historically a very important project.   It was an important megawad for me personally. I fell in love with the first level in particular. The music, the realistic architecture, so reminiscent of the video games of the 90s... It all left a lasting impression. And it was one of the most beautiful wads I've seen at the time.   But I rarely played anyt

A competently made map, for sure, but fun? It's way too long and repetitive, with same-y combat & ambush scenarios used again and again, and with way too much enemies, and not that much of a challenge, even for me who isn't exactly fond of "SUPER HARD WAD #9263!!!!11!. You can cut the whole thing in half, and then cut THAT half in half, and it would be a better map. Is it bad? No, just a little bit above average, mostly because it drags a bit too long.

Generally good map design, but the difficulty as is the case with pwads tends to be uneven even on HMP, especially when you mix them with what slaughtermaps tend to be (monster spam). Too many parts where, after pressing a switch, you'll spend some time killing enemies only to realise the map maker tried to get cute and spawned a bunch of hidden archviles somewhere to start reviving everyone while you were busy wasting ammo. This is especially unfun in parts with very little cover where you'll b

I like the part where I pay for the numerous murders I committed by getting beaten up by either a Mancubus or an Arachnotron, it changed my outlook on Monster Priority. Thank you "Problematic" Revenant #7, I have yet to find a way to repay him.
