About This File

Cesspool is a map with all new textures and music. The difficulty is scaled according to my observations of forum members' attitude towards difficulty settings. The three generic difficulty settings range from average difficulty, hell revealed level of difficulty and extremely difficult but not impossible. I recommend you beat the map at least once before trying it on Ultra Violence.

This is version 1.1 of Cesspool. A few small changes have been made to balance the difficulty of the map, all for the Ultra Violence difficulty setting.

* All spectres replaced with demons * Berserk pack at player start * The red skull room trenches have been replaced with damaging floors to prevent the player from camping there

Additionally, the glitchy sounds have been removed.

Easy on HNTR, extreme on HMP, didn't even try UV. Quite short. Nice designs.

Pretty much everything I have to say about this map I've already said on the forum. It's a pretty good map, it looks nice, but when the author says to start below UV seriously do it. It plays a lot more neatly on the other levels. inb4 "rrrgh 2 hard 0/5" or whatever. 3/5

I really want to give it a 0 but it's too stupid and its only problem is too hard, so it's not fair at all. Well, because those archviles are asshole so don't try it with UV or even HMP if you're not very skilled player. Yeah, it's possible to beat it with HMP/UV but you must be a god or have very good luck. :p It's a decent map at all, just annoying with some powerful monsters. 2.5/5 -playerlin

Made by the same guy that posted a thread containing pictures that tell a story about him eating keyborad gunk mixed with his own semen. The quality of this is about the same and you should avoid with what's left of your raped life.

I,beat it on UV when it was released on forums, and thought the gameplay sucked. Despite implying he could beat it himself, the author never stepped up to actually show a demo when asked to. The whole deal seemed more of a cry for attention than a genuine attempt at making a challenging map. On the other hand, the midi is cool and some of the textures are decent. 2/5

      I genuinely enjoyed this mod with its level design and music. It was challenging and interesting and it kept me playing a while after beating it to try to find anything. though I would say it was slightly repetitive and overwhelming with enemies at some moments.

      A competently made map, for sure, but fun? It's way too long and repetitive, with same-y combat & ambush scenarios used again and again, and with way too much enemies, and not that much of a challenge, even for me who isn't exactly fond of "SUPER HARD WAD #9263!!!!11!. You can cut the whole thing in half, and then cut THAT half in half, and it would be a better map. Is it bad? No, just a little bit above average, mostly because it drags a bit too long.

      Generally good map design, but the difficulty as is the case with pwads tends to be uneven even on HMP, especially when you mix them with what slaughtermaps tend to be (monster spam). Too many parts where, after pressing a switch, you'll spend some time killing enemies only to realise the map maker tried to get cute and spawned a bunch of hidden archviles somewhere to start reviving everyone while you were busy wasting ammo. This is especially unfun in parts with very little cover where you'll b

      I like the part where I pay for the numerous murders I committed by getting beaten up by either a Mancubus or an Arachnotron, it changed my outlook on Monster Priority. Thank you "Problematic" Revenant #7, I have yet to find a way to repay him.
