About This File

This wad shows real existing city (Bytom in Poland) moved to Doom universe. 99% of buildings and locations was a copy of real places. The only changes were introduced because of the engine limitations. I tried to create an exact copy of every area with his oryginal scale and geometry (as far as this is possible in Doom). I used the surveying maps and aerial photography. Many times I must walk through those regions in order to implement the necessary images. Some of this images are now in game as textures.

An amazing work, it's like having the hell in your neigborhood. However, you need a very faster computer. Maybe without 3d models or several smaller maps. 5/5

lags on a 3.6 quad + Gtx560ti 2gb ddr5, a fucking doom map, lagging on that? it's a sourceport issue, honestly the limits are there. but once u have loaded all the texture cache the levels performance finally smooths out.... pretty fun map :) 4/5

Huge amount of work: 5/5. Overall details: 4/5. Subtle details (the skulls on the yellow candles :-) ): 5/5. Playability is boring, so 2/5. Overall: this concept wad is unique in its kind, thus needs to be judged against its primary goal: legendary, so 5/5. BTW: played great on AMD 6950 @1920x1200 & all opengl options on.

Thank you very much for this map. It's the most impressive work I have seen in a single doom map. It hasn't the best gameplay and challenge I've played but it's ok, visually there isn't nothing better in doom. Atmosphere and music are creppy, at the level of Unloved and Circus 2. Levitating table is great. Highly recommended. The only problem is the fps, I needed my best computer. 5/5

An interesting and ambitious concept, but executed incredibly poorly. What a shame.

Lots of areas to explore and plenty of enemies to fight. This single map will take more than half an hour to complete 100% There were some minor slowdowns in some parts of the city, but nothing that I couldn't handle. 5/5

An awesome urban atmosphere. This is the best in style doom&reality. 5/5. ^I didn't see nothing poor except performance.

Awesome map! Really immersive, nice, scary atmosphere, and it looks like nothing else! You might argue it even looks on par with the most modern games! Only downside were those shotgun monks that were uses VERY poorly. But that's a minor gripe, and everything else was cool (yes, I even liked the building searches), so 5/5

it looks great, unfortunately the gameplay is boring, the monsters are just thrown in to have something to shoot at. however, this style of mapping really isn't made for gameplay.

The latest version of Gzdoom was crashing every half an hour ,but I was stubborn and started it over and over , ignoring these strange incidents and I didn't regret it . This is one of the best wads I have ever played and I am giving it 5/5 , despite the fact I died dozen times on Przemyslowa street lol . RH

Looks -- amazing! The amount of work you put into it is really impressive. Two 'buts': 1) why, oh why again somebody makes a great level and leaves STANDARD DOOM TORCHES? They look laughable, really 2) goddamn fences! Every where! Do you really have them like this? :) 'cause they are really annoying strategically

I genuinely enjoyed this mod with its level design and music. It was challenging and interesting and it kept me playing a while after beating it to try to find anything. though I would say it was slightly repetitive and overwhelming with enemies at some moments.

Writing a review for Darkening 2 is tough. It's a beloved megawad, and for good reason. As many other reviewers have said, it is historically a very important project.   It was an important megawad for me personally. I fell in love with the first level in particular. The music, the realistic architecture, so reminiscent of the video games of the 90s... It all left a lasting impression. And it was one of the most beautiful wads I've seen at the time.   But I rarely played anyt

A competently made map, for sure, but fun? It's way too long and repetitive, with same-y combat & ambush scenarios used again and again, and with way too much enemies, and not that much of a challenge, even for me who isn't exactly fond of "SUPER HARD WAD #9263!!!!11!. You can cut the whole thing in half, and then cut THAT half in half, and it would be a better map. Is it bad? No, just a little bit above average, mostly because it drags a bit too long.

Generally good map design, but the difficulty as is the case with pwads tends to be uneven even on HMP, especially when you mix them with what slaughtermaps tend to be (monster spam). Too many parts where, after pressing a switch, you'll spend some time killing enemies only to realise the map maker tried to get cute and spawned a bunch of hidden archviles somewhere to start reviving everyone while you were busy wasting ammo. This is especially unfun in parts with very little cover where you'll b

I like the part where I pay for the numerous murders I committed by getting beaten up by either a Mancubus or an Arachnotron, it changed my outlook on Monster Priority. Thank you "Problematic" Revenant #7, I have yet to find a way to repay him.
