About This File

Replaces most weapons with an 0verp0wered M4 rifle. Also includes new fist attacks, a new "chainsaw," and the dreaded M249 automatic rifle. Oh yeah, and an M203 grenade launcher. :)

Why remove some of the variety of having more than four weapons with one boring one that's extremely overpowered to the point that it isn't fun anymore? Why should the player start with this weapon anyway?

This is absolutely retarded, almost every gun is a stupid m16, even the shotguns. Forget this, FAIL. You suck at it, use different graphics. It is like a Dick-wad. 0/5

What should have been a **** is now a * because of the overuse. It is a decent weapon and I would like to see it in the game, but due to the fact that it replaced, what, 4 weapons? Not so much. *

Why does one weapon have to replace four at once? Why was only about 1 hour of actual work and 14 hours of sitting on your ass released? Why doesn't the author realize that a "reality mode" can be accomplished by overhauling all the monsters and having to create a unique level or create a skill level in mapinfo that has "damagefactor = 2"? Because these factors outweigh the quality of the gun itself, it is a critical failure.

I feel like I went into a time machine and came out back when Dehacked was first invented.

I think this author played a bit too much Combat Arms 3 for effort though! :)

This is terrible. I suck at DeHackEd and I make better stuff than this.

I don't see why this has been getting such negative feedback- its not the most complicated weapons mod in existence, but I thought it was a cool concept, make weapon switching look like reloading. You should have kept the health lower though and included an optional "reality mod" patch in the download to balance out the insane amount of damage. 5/5 to balance things out a little.

I appreciate the feedback on this. Adding a reality mode mod wasn't much of an option without a unique level set and it would not contribute to this mod anyways. Version 1.1 is available on the Berlin archive and it will replace this file soon. At least the complete version has some original artwork. From the sounds of this, I might finish up the art and remove the DeHackEd features completely.

Now the same gun takes up 5 weapons at once, one more than last time. The BFG is basically just an overpowered version of this already overpowered weapon. The rocketlauncher, chainsaw, and fist are just pitiful graphics replacements that remind me of id=13186. I'm not saying it's not complicated enough, I'm saying you suck at dehacked and can't be arsed to make anything more than a simple gfx replacement and one slightly new gun (an overpowered chaingun).

I genuinely enjoyed this mod with its level design and music. It was challenging and interesting and it kept me playing a while after beating it to try to find anything. though I would say it was slightly repetitive and overwhelming with enemies at some moments.

Writing a review for Darkening 2 is tough. It's a beloved megawad, and for good reason. As many other reviewers have said, it is historically a very important project.   It was an important megawad for me personally. I fell in love with the first level in particular. The music, the realistic architecture, so reminiscent of the video games of the 90s... It all left a lasting impression. And it was one of the most beautiful wads I've seen at the time.   But I rarely played anyt

A competently made map, for sure, but fun? It's way too long and repetitive, with same-y combat & ambush scenarios used again and again, and with way too much enemies, and not that much of a challenge, even for me who isn't exactly fond of "SUPER HARD WAD #9263!!!!11!. You can cut the whole thing in half, and then cut THAT half in half, and it would be a better map. Is it bad? No, just a little bit above average, mostly because it drags a bit too long.

Generally good map design, but the difficulty as is the case with pwads tends to be uneven even on HMP, especially when you mix them with what slaughtermaps tend to be (monster spam). Too many parts where, after pressing a switch, you'll spend some time killing enemies only to realise the map maker tried to get cute and spawned a bunch of hidden archviles somewhere to start reviving everyone while you were busy wasting ammo. This is especially unfun in parts with very little cover where you'll b

I like the part where I pay for the numerous murders I committed by getting beaten up by either a Mancubus or an Arachnotron, it changed my outlook on Monster Priority. Thank you "Problematic" Revenant #7, I have yet to find a way to repay him.
