About This File

You'll start in a computer control center, and eventually make your way to the crossroads. Each path you take may seem worse than the last. You'll encounter some roadblocks along your way, which means that you will have to find a switch. This map includes an exit to the secret level which is very hard to find. Soon after you begin, you'll find a device useful for crushing enemies or other players.

First commentor is definitely asshead filled with what he said. It's very good ultimate doom map. Only reason why I voted this only for 4 stars is nonsensical main secret sequence: it is impossible to find it fair and max route is seriously backtracked by it.

Rather good for a wad from 1996. I was surprised, it was worth the playthrough. -Lawstiker

This level is really quite somthing for 1996, and what a shame it was missing for the archive for so long! This might be the best map RL has uploaded to date, even though TMP.wad is probably best for its time. It's a mainly E1 style map but with some Barons and a few E2 textures here and there. Throughly enjoyable. Small spoiler: To get started on the hunt for the secret exit, make sure you pay attention to the flashing light in the room of eight switches. Too bad no secret level is included.

This is really a very good old-shitty wad! I like it. It gives me about id's E1M4 and some E1M3 feels, so nostalgic and plays so fun(except killing some hell of barons with shotgun only...well, it's id's fault. :p) ! The secret exit really tricky, needed some switch work, I only know how to get it by load it with SLADE 2 and I feels wow...WTH!? :p Everyone that like old-school maps should try this good shit! :D 4/5 -playerlin

Good map. Featured complex layout, many secrets (hiding too much well on my taste) and quite challenging gameplay (forget about to fda it on -fast). /hth

I genuinely enjoyed this mod with its level design and music. It was challenging and interesting and it kept me playing a while after beating it to try to find anything. though I would say it was slightly repetitive and overwhelming with enemies at some moments.

Writing a review for Darkening 2 is tough. It's a beloved megawad, and for good reason. As many other reviewers have said, it is historically a very important project.   It was an important megawad for me personally. I fell in love with the first level in particular. The music, the realistic architecture, so reminiscent of the video games of the 90s... It all left a lasting impression. And it was one of the most beautiful wads I've seen at the time.   But I rarely played anyt

A competently made map, for sure, but fun? It's way too long and repetitive, with same-y combat & ambush scenarios used again and again, and with way too much enemies, and not that much of a challenge, even for me who isn't exactly fond of "SUPER HARD WAD #9263!!!!11!. You can cut the whole thing in half, and then cut THAT half in half, and it would be a better map. Is it bad? No, just a little bit above average, mostly because it drags a bit too long.

Generally good map design, but the difficulty as is the case with pwads tends to be uneven even on HMP, especially when you mix them with what slaughtermaps tend to be (monster spam). Too many parts where, after pressing a switch, you'll spend some time killing enemies only to realise the map maker tried to get cute and spawned a bunch of hidden archviles somewhere to start reviving everyone while you were busy wasting ammo. This is especially unfun in parts with very little cover where you'll b

I like the part where I pay for the numerous murders I committed by getting beaten up by either a Mancubus or an Arachnotron, it changed my outlook on Monster Priority. Thank you "Problematic" Revenant #7, I have yet to find a way to repay him.
