If I Ran The Zoo

About This File

This is an arena in which you can safely view several demonic exhibits. You can see demons, imps, arachnotrons, mancubi, revenants, barons, cyber demons, and cacodemons. Viewing other enemies would be dangerous, since they would kill you or each other. There is a control room that you can enter at your own risk. There are switches clearly marked for your convience that allow you to let the demons out of their areas. It's great to just do a bit of cheating and watch them all fight each other. Monsters that cannot be safely viewed are stored and can be released. If things get out of control, there is a weapons room with enough raw power to turn every monster on the level inside out. The candles in the control hallway mark how far away you should stay from the window - or you may be splatted by rockets and fireballs.

It's actually pretty nice to fuck around in, especially when you tweak monster infighting.

If I ran the zoo, I'd set all the animals loose so they can kill Kevin Eudy for uploading this shit. 0/5

Heh I was sure that I had seen this concept before....it's "fun" for about 1 minute if you don't have a resource viewer/editor and you want to "admire" Doom monsters. DCK and geocities should ring a few bells. 0/5 -Maes

If you want to play one of Ken Eudy's maps, whatever you do stay away from this one. It is kind of like NUTS.WAD except there are not as many monsters and you release them all using switches located at the side of the arena. You get a room completely filled with guns, ammo, powerups etcetera to destroy the monsters with and there is an exit teleporter behind one of the monsters enclosures. This is rather pointless and would only appeal to those who like really bad maps, 0/5.

Exactly what it says on the tin. The idea isn't actually bad, I think, but the design's straight out of the mid-90s (granted, that IS when the level was made), and it really isn't that much fun. 2/5 for the effort and considering its age. - ZZ

Jesus Christ, RL and Perseus should be shot to death for spamming these shitty old-ass maps. I wouldn't mind good ones, but experience is telling me that they all suck.

I think was actually funny. I mean, when you release all the monsters, chaos ensued! But on the other hand, it's a very boring wad. 3 stars for the lulz

I genuinely enjoyed this mod with its level design and music. It was challenging and interesting and it kept me playing a while after beating it to try to find anything. though I would say it was slightly repetitive and overwhelming with enemies at some moments.

Writing a review for Darkening 2 is tough. It's a beloved megawad, and for good reason. As many other reviewers have said, it is historically a very important project.   It was an important megawad for me personally. I fell in love with the first level in particular. The music, the realistic architecture, so reminiscent of the video games of the 90s... It all left a lasting impression. And it was one of the most beautiful wads I've seen at the time.   But I rarely played anyt

A competently made map, for sure, but fun? It's way too long and repetitive, with same-y combat & ambush scenarios used again and again, and with way too much enemies, and not that much of a challenge, even for me who isn't exactly fond of "SUPER HARD WAD #9263!!!!11!. You can cut the whole thing in half, and then cut THAT half in half, and it would be a better map. Is it bad? No, just a little bit above average, mostly because it drags a bit too long.

Generally good map design, but the difficulty as is the case with pwads tends to be uneven even on HMP, especially when you mix them with what slaughtermaps tend to be (monster spam). Too many parts where, after pressing a switch, you'll spend some time killing enemies only to realise the map maker tried to get cute and spawned a bunch of hidden archviles somewhere to start reviving everyone while you were busy wasting ammo. This is especially unfun in parts with very little cover where you'll b

I like the part where I pay for the numerous murders I committed by getting beaten up by either a Mancubus or an Arachnotron, it changed my outlook on Monster Priority. Thank you "Problematic" Revenant #7, I have yet to find a way to repay him.
