I'm going to disagree with the crowd here. 6 years to make another wad with 40 levels! Gameplay: 40 gigantic, difficult, fun levels. The music choices are hilarious, choosing real old music. Crazy new enemies! The structures of the levels are trippy and exciting! Unfortunately there are a few glitches in some levels where you will need to use noclip to bypass a part of level, because of an enemy not transporting or a trigger gone wrong Overall, really impressed! I would give 4.5 if I could.

Immediate download!!! I love the first, and i realised that the first, every map is actually possible! Den I played... Yes, still ridiculously hard, in fact this is harder. So I load up my weapons and immortal life and begin my journey... and enjoyed it. If you play doom by cheating - with only idfa and iddqd, this is for you~

Another piece for fans of untraditional doom wads. New monsters gives interesting shift in gameplay, also there is a lot of new ideas (mostly using scripting) which I've never seen in other wad. Hovewer floors modifiyng player movement and epileptic scrolling floors and walls are annoying and not funny. Maps looks confusing and automap is useless. I am giving 4 stars - with some exceptions, this is good stuff. Oh, and it is hard - I recommend you use lowest difficulty settings.

I've downloaded this on the first day when it was released here. I've yet to complete it! Less than 1/2 way in still, but I am amazed by how some maps were so extensive and the number of new monsters was, impressive. Anyway, I also find myself cheating quite a lot, there is a extreme shortage of ammo, faced with tons and tons NEW extremely aggressively monstrous monsters.

In first few levels, I feel those design of maps are good, but after some levels later, I feel I was played those maps in beginning... and all maps are bullshit hard...or they just not for me, maybe. BTW, I can see Sasha put his/her(?) heart in those levels, they're looking good and weird but too bad, it's not my shit for playing fully... :p 2/5 -playerlin

Errrrm. One of those experimental wad type things. You'll probably either be quite intrigued or quite repelled.

I genuinely enjoyed this mod with its level design and music. It was challenging and interesting and it kept me playing a while after beating it to try to find anything. though I would say it was slightly repetitive and overwhelming with enemies at some moments.

Writing a review for Darkening 2 is tough. It's a beloved megawad, and for good reason. As many other reviewers have said, it is historically a very important project.   It was an important megawad for me personally. I fell in love with the first level in particular. The music, the realistic architecture, so reminiscent of the video games of the 90s... It all left a lasting impression. And it was one of the most beautiful wads I've seen at the time.   But I rarely played anyt

A competently made map, for sure, but fun? It's way too long and repetitive, with same-y combat & ambush scenarios used again and again, and with way too much enemies, and not that much of a challenge, even for me who isn't exactly fond of "SUPER HARD WAD #9263!!!!11!. You can cut the whole thing in half, and then cut THAT half in half, and it would be a better map. Is it bad? No, just a little bit above average, mostly because it drags a bit too long.

Generally good map design, but the difficulty as is the case with pwads tends to be uneven even on HMP, especially when you mix them with what slaughtermaps tend to be (monster spam). Too many parts where, after pressing a switch, you'll spend some time killing enemies only to realise the map maker tried to get cute and spawned a bunch of hidden archviles somewhere to start reviving everyone while you were busy wasting ammo. This is especially unfun in parts with very little cover where you'll b

I like the part where I pay for the numerous murders I committed by getting beaten up by either a Mancubus or an Arachnotron, it changed my outlook on Monster Priority. Thank you "Problematic" Revenant #7, I have yet to find a way to repay him.
