Damn good. A little irritating with the whole siren thing, and the pistol was WAY too weak, but good nontheless. 5/5

I am devastated... It's the best Torm's wad. Simply awesome. And "Bloody" too. =) 5/5 - Demonologist

If any of you want to know what the songs are I'll list some of them heard that I know. Raccoon City Uptown - Resident Evil 3, Cold Sweat / Danger Theme 1 - Resident Evil 3, Feel the Tense / Nemesis' Theme 2 - Resident Evil 3, The Clock Tower / St. Michael's Clock Tower - Resident Evil 3. That's all I know, anyway. Excellent, I give it a 99!

4 stars. A highly detailed, polished level full of interesting features, but the gameplay wasn't all that great. Mind you, maybe it's because I'm just not into city levels, but I still think tormentor's utnt, sapphire and austerity were more enjoyable. Still recommended, if you like the style. -TeH NeXuS

There are two main problems with this wad: weapons are too weak and some notes are too long - I really didn't even bother to read stuff that was longer than 8 lines (except Thamuz book). Look how Unreal did it - translator didn't even have enough space to contain so much material at once. Besides that I find this map the most original and moody level in entire Doom history. 5/5 Zalewa

it looks great but the gameplay got to me pretty quick. you are stuck with the pistol seemingly forever unless you just so happen to wander into the right place. after i got the moon key the game bugged out on me, went black screen and didn't come back. 2/5

fucking yikes, this one was cool to explore. but I wandered the city with just the anaconda only to be smitten by those very fast hellhounds or whatever, should probably tell me where a better weapon would be before the whole nonlinear thing gets my head. use of Blood resources was interesting I guess. the moon shelter concept was pretty cool, though I had to wait awhile, and why did the screen turn black anyways? the boss was kinda a letdown for some reason too.

So much stuff in a single map, this took me few hours to complete. It looks really, REALLY good, I guess this is a good taste of what kind of stuff we would be getting these days if there was a source port for Blood.

Pretty damn good, but that is to be expected, since this is a Tormentor level =) There's a bit of door-hunting here and there, and there's a portion that didn't get explained properly, but it doesn't seriously detract from the playing experience. Highly reccomended. -Vis

A good-looking and atmospheric level, that suffers from some bad gameplay. Ammo and health balances are too tight; if the goal was to make it scary, it became frustrating instead. There's also a lot of keyhunting, which ruins the non-linearity a bit. It's worth a playthrough, but you might save yourself some headache if you play on skill 1 (I played on skill 4). 3 stars.

An original wad with a kind of Lovecraftian theme. Borrows resources heavily from Blood, but uses them well, so it doesn't just feel like a wanton medley of ripped material. Atmospheric, but this largely relies on you resisting a strong urge to turn your brightness up. However item-placement is more like a survival game & sometimes it feels like an elaborate key hunt. New weapons and monsters also change the gameplay substantially, for better or worse. However, it's a good idea & a good execution.

Complex game play that requires one to look around and pay attention to detail. I loved the somber, eerie music and the 1900's city. The ligthing was very dark and dramatic, but it helped amp up the haunting, desolate atmosphere. I liked the one area that had an alternate, hellish dimension--that was a chilling surprise! I still like the first TCotD better, but this sequel is a real treat. 4/5

Pretty atmospheric journey through abandoned decaying town overrun with cultists and unholy abominations. However,it seems Tormentor is a big fan of old adventure games - this mini TC is pretty heavy on reading and puzzle solving. Now, readables are pretty cool and are done in appropriate style instead of being just paragraphs of floating text. Puzzles are... well, as I said guy is obviously a fan of 90s adventures. I had to search for help online.

Could have been perfect Blood inspired map for Doom... except it was almost ruined by some frustrating and gimmicky puzzles. I actually enjoyed exploring and discovering pieces of story. Visuals were superb, as expected from Tormentor667, and there was that great old school horror atmosphere that I love in Blood 1. So I give it four stars, despite awful puzzles.

I genuinely enjoyed this mod with its level design and music. It was challenging and interesting and it kept me playing a while after beating it to try to find anything. though I would say it was slightly repetitive and overwhelming with enemies at some moments.

Writing a review for Darkening 2 is tough. It's a beloved megawad, and for good reason. As many other reviewers have said, it is historically a very important project.   It was an important megawad for me personally. I fell in love with the first level in particular. The music, the realistic architecture, so reminiscent of the video games of the 90s... It all left a lasting impression. And it was one of the most beautiful wads I've seen at the time.   But I rarely played anyt

A competently made map, for sure, but fun? It's way too long and repetitive, with same-y combat & ambush scenarios used again and again, and with way too much enemies, and not that much of a challenge, even for me who isn't exactly fond of "SUPER HARD WAD #9263!!!!11!. You can cut the whole thing in half, and then cut THAT half in half, and it would be a better map. Is it bad? No, just a little bit above average, mostly because it drags a bit too long.

Generally good map design, but the difficulty as is the case with pwads tends to be uneven even on HMP, especially when you mix them with what slaughtermaps tend to be (monster spam). Too many parts where, after pressing a switch, you'll spend some time killing enemies only to realise the map maker tried to get cute and spawned a bunch of hidden archviles somewhere to start reviving everyone while you were busy wasting ammo. This is especially unfun in parts with very little cover where you'll b

I like the part where I pay for the numerous murders I committed by getting beaten up by either a Mancubus or an Arachnotron, it changed my outlook on Monster Priority. Thank you "Problematic" Revenant #7, I have yet to find a way to repay him.
