About This File

Beautiful Doom is the grandfather of enhancement mods, born in 2008, updated multiple times, and now in 2015 it received the ultimate update. Since then it has improved a lot.

It's a mod that keeps original Doom gameplay but introduces lots of special effects and visual enhancements for deeper and more thrilling Doom experience.

Well for those who complaining about auto aim. This mod was NEVER intended for use with auto aim. Complaining about it is pointless. Oh, changing your settings to play it? If you don't want to why did you bother to download it. I don't agree with the way the authors reacting to this, I'll make that clear. But the way you guys are acting? Violence and Criticism only breeds more Violence and Criticism. As for Beautiful Doom 4.0. It's very nice. I'll give it a 5/5 for making the old weapons fun again.

5 stars for monsters and objects. It really makes Doom more attractive. I dont load Weapons because it change the normal Doom gameplay. Ok, it's a mod, but I prefer a graphic script. A mod should change something more than small changes like shotgun single shot or faster chaingun. I prefer gameplay unchanged. Good job for monsters and objects man.

This is not much more of an achievement than those compilation WADs where some guy took other people's levels and put them together and said "lulz here's a graet megawad!" "Beautiful Doom" sounds pretty lame, but then I guess that fits. The author's attitude makes this eclectic junk even more forgettable. Congrats! 1/5

It's hard to describe this wad. It just makes doom feel... "kiddie" with those effects. They just don't feel cool enough, whereas particle fire enhanced at the WIP website is better in my opinion. Yeah, the new graphics completely diverge from Doom in a bad way, and some of the sounds just don't work in this mod.

I'm going to rate this as a zero. 1)The message ordering you to switch auto aim off that won't go away unless you comply. My auto aim was already set to off, yet I still had to 'sv_autoain 3', why? 2)Doom is beautiful enough to start with. 0/5

To those with autoaim off: Just type sv_smartaim 3 in console to remove the message. Very nice work, I like the new animations for the weapons and how the gore seems to be a little less system intensive this time.

Good mod, makes doom more beautiful, especially the weapons wad (I prefer without second fire). Stuff and monsters are a bit laggy, but have interesting effects like halos and water. 5/5

This is the only mod I constantly use with almost every wad I play. The animations are slick, the death animations and gore are cool and there are two weapon modifications that are really enhancing my gameplay. My MOST used weapon, the SSG now has a single barrel alternate fire, which adds a little tactical variety. And it enhances my LEAST used weapon, the chaingun by addind the alternate high-speed-fire, which bursts out loads of ammo, but has very low accuracy. I highly recommend this mod!

You know. This and DBeauty are both excellent. The problem is; why the fuck do they crash GZDoom randomly in specific points thus making the game impossible to play? I was able to run DBeauty in ZDoom regular and with no problems minus those cool FX were lost. DBeauty4 doesn't like software so it's totally unrunnable for GZDoom. It is highly polished yet I got no clue what the fuck's wrong with the crashes. 1 star for this unbalanced crap. 5 to the original for actually working on ZDoom.

Honestly, for all the stuff this tries, Doom Enhanced just seems to be better at it. DE basically adds to the existing game rather than trying to change it.

      I genuinely enjoyed this mod with its level design and music. It was challenging and interesting and it kept me playing a while after beating it to try to find anything. though I would say it was slightly repetitive and overwhelming with enemies at some moments.

      A competently made map, for sure, but fun? It's way too long and repetitive, with same-y combat & ambush scenarios used again and again, and with way too much enemies, and not that much of a challenge, even for me who isn't exactly fond of "SUPER HARD WAD #9263!!!!11!. You can cut the whole thing in half, and then cut THAT half in half, and it would be a better map. Is it bad? No, just a little bit above average, mostly because it drags a bit too long.

      Generally good map design, but the difficulty as is the case with pwads tends to be uneven even on HMP, especially when you mix them with what slaughtermaps tend to be (monster spam). Too many parts where, after pressing a switch, you'll spend some time killing enemies only to realise the map maker tried to get cute and spawned a bunch of hidden archviles somewhere to start reviving everyone while you were busy wasting ammo. This is especially unfun in parts with very little cover where you'll b

      I like the part where I pay for the numerous murders I committed by getting beaten up by either a Mancubus or an Arachnotron, it changed my outlook on Monster Priority. Thank you "Problematic" Revenant #7, I have yet to find a way to repay him.
