Description : This map replaces E1M1 of HERETIC. It has been
tested to be beatable in all difficulty levels.
I even tested it myself on "Black Plague" and can
confirm that it can be finished (albeit with a
LOT of save/loads).
I have disabled crouching and jumping, because
their use can and will break the level. Also, I
recommend going to options > display options >
message options, and setting "scale text in hi
res" to on, because there will be messages that
you need to read in order to finish the level.
If you have trouble with the puzzles, even after
viewing the messages, scroll down to the bottom
of this text file for the solutions.

Puzzle Solutions
FAMINE: Go into the room with the blue marble floor and stand where
the torches are, facing away from the skull wall decoration. Quickly
activate the ring of invulnerability so that you don't die from the
crusher. After a few seconds, as you are crushed you will see a switch
that you can activate on the main room's crusher ceiling. Hit it and run
to the teleporter across from you before the invulnerability runs out.
PESTILENCE: Stand on the highest point of the squares in the middle of
the main area, which will be between four serpent torches. As you look
ahead facing the columns, shoot at the small golden trident symbol on the
green stone wall in front of you. This opens a hidden teleporter; take
it and grab the wings of wrath. Use the wings to fly to the switch and
press it, then simply fly back harmlessly over the newly lowered chasm
and exit the area via the teleporter behind the columns.
WAR: Hit the red trident symbol in the indoor circular room to raise two
nearby steps, allowing you to reach two quartz flasks. As you grab the
flasks many enemies will warp in, defeat them. Afterwards run up the now
accessible staircase behind the crossbow and run directly ahead across an
invisible bridge to reach the switch on the opposite side, killing
enemies as you go. Hit this switch, then go through the teleporter in
the center of the circular room to warp back to the blue key.
DEATH: After hitting the switch which lowers the walls of the central
structure, defeat the Iron Liches. As you approach the center of this
area, doors will open and multiple D'Sparils(more or less depending on
difficulty level) will appear. The trick is to shoot each D'Sparil just
until he is dismounted from his serpent, then move on to the next, until
none of them are riding serpents anymore. Then you can single out one of
the D'Sparils, since each is a different color. Concentrate your fire on
the one of your choosing, ignoring and evading the others. When the one
you are fighting dies, he will destroy the others as well.
