About This File

3 levels for Doom 2. Based on my old "bhouse" level, but heavily, heavily modified and split into 3 maps.

Motivation: a facility hidden in a cavern has been conducting experiments in hell, and have found a legendary volcano called Erebus. Journey through hell and destroy all that dwell in it.

A very good map from a new mapper, even if it's far from perfect, this is looking very promising!

Good 'nuff. Some misaligned/misused textures and maps are a little small, still, 3/5

Loved this map set! It had a unique sense of style and pacing that was both retro and challenging. Archvilles were well placed. Traps well timed. The confrontations on the first map were a little to direct, but the rest I can't seem to find any real complaints worth mentioning. Good job! 5/5 -FoH ::FDA -prboom 2.5.1 -complevel 9 -skill 4 ::http://www.mediafi re.com/?2nq8ehoo256z s8v (remove spaces)

The atmosphere has strong hints of Classic Doom, which I liked. The second map's cliff texture was a little too bright. Perhaps the abundance of powerups in the second map was not a good choice; as there was little in the way of anything resembling a tough challenge. (This isn't a bad thing, though!) The third map probably didn't need 3 different keys to open the exit door, and the lone baron inside was a little pointless, especially after such a huge fight beforehand. Overall, very good! 4/5.

3 poorly designed and poorly detailled maps, failling in making a "hellish atmophere", player stay far from this , the guy who create, stop and put your energy in something where you're good at that mean nothing.0/5

I genuinely enjoyed this mod with its level design and music. It was challenging and interesting and it kept me playing a while after beating it to try to find anything. though I would say it was slightly repetitive and overwhelming with enemies at some moments.

Writing a review for Darkening 2 is tough. It's a beloved megawad, and for good reason. As many other reviewers have said, it is historically a very important project.   It was an important megawad for me personally. I fell in love with the first level in particular. The music, the realistic architecture, so reminiscent of the video games of the 90s... It all left a lasting impression. And it was one of the most beautiful wads I've seen at the time.   But I rarely played anyt

A competently made map, for sure, but fun? It's way too long and repetitive, with same-y combat & ambush scenarios used again and again, and with way too much enemies, and not that much of a challenge, even for me who isn't exactly fond of "SUPER HARD WAD #9263!!!!11!. You can cut the whole thing in half, and then cut THAT half in half, and it would be a better map. Is it bad? No, just a little bit above average, mostly because it drags a bit too long.

Generally good map design, but the difficulty as is the case with pwads tends to be uneven even on HMP, especially when you mix them with what slaughtermaps tend to be (monster spam). Too many parts where, after pressing a switch, you'll spend some time killing enemies only to realise the map maker tried to get cute and spawned a bunch of hidden archviles somewhere to start reviving everyone while you were busy wasting ammo. This is especially unfun in parts with very little cover where you'll b

I like the part where I pay for the numerous murders I committed by getting beaten up by either a Mancubus or an Arachnotron, it changed my outlook on Monster Priority. Thank you "Problematic" Revenant #7, I have yet to find a way to repay him.
