About This File

A single map about our Doomguy, who has been teleported to the land of the damned. You want to escape from it and return back home, however, it's not so easy to do it... New weapons, new monsters and new artifacts may look unusual, but you accept the challenge and meet your fate. More details about wad's storyline are explained in INQUISITOR_ENG.pdf

By default, the L key turns off light effects (torch flares become sprites), and the key M turns off the rain. If for some reason these keys do not work, you can enter the options menu and customize your own.

The map was sent on competition which was held in iddqd.ru on July, 16, - August, 20, 2012. The idea of competition was that the map, created by the random map generator, is being improved and modified by each participant of competition under the port chosen by participant himself. Surprises and unusual decisions were welcomed as well. Thus the participant can map game zones only within a rectangle outlined around of an initial map. Behind its limits, it was allowed to do decorative landscapes and technical sectors. Also all initial map's vertexes should have been invariable.

This had the potential to be awesome, but is ruined by the ghosts and the boss fight. It's also required to noclip through the main door once the graveyard has been explored. (framerate didn't bother me that much tbh)

This was decent, the rooms were confusing to navigate half the time. The last boss was a tad too fast. My only gripe here is that the level was waaaaaaay too dark. 3/5

Way too hard. You start out with your fists (which are modified to be much weaker/slower than the regular marine's fists) and the zombies massacre me, even on 'easy' difficulty. There isn't enough health around. At the start, I ran from the roof of the shed into the secret area and got stuck there. Oops, I did something the creator didn't think of? Haven't played for 5 minutes and already two major annoyances. Waste of time. -> Recycle bin.

It is not doom wad, it's a total conversion wad with hard and unusual gameplay. But atmosphere of "dark fantasy" is solid!

Contrived gameplay, but the feeling of exploration is good. Construction is rather boring, a lot of square shapes with the feeling of some detail has been slapped in, but there's atmosphere. 3/5 Also - "IMHO, some women do deserve tortures, and Pussy Riot are the first candidates on it." This wad has a rather controversial history.

I genuinely enjoyed this mod with its level design and music. It was challenging and interesting and it kept me playing a while after beating it to try to find anything. though I would say it was slightly repetitive and overwhelming with enemies at some moments.

Writing a review for Darkening 2 is tough. It's a beloved megawad, and for good reason. As many other reviewers have said, it is historically a very important project.   It was an important megawad for me personally. I fell in love with the first level in particular. The music, the realistic architecture, so reminiscent of the video games of the 90s... It all left a lasting impression. And it was one of the most beautiful wads I've seen at the time.   But I rarely played anyt

A competently made map, for sure, but fun? It's way too long and repetitive, with same-y combat & ambush scenarios used again and again, and with way too much enemies, and not that much of a challenge, even for me who isn't exactly fond of "SUPER HARD WAD #9263!!!!11!. You can cut the whole thing in half, and then cut THAT half in half, and it would be a better map. Is it bad? No, just a little bit above average, mostly because it drags a bit too long.

Generally good map design, but the difficulty as is the case with pwads tends to be uneven even on HMP, especially when you mix them with what slaughtermaps tend to be (monster spam). Too many parts where, after pressing a switch, you'll spend some time killing enemies only to realise the map maker tried to get cute and spawned a bunch of hidden archviles somewhere to start reviving everyone while you were busy wasting ammo. This is especially unfun in parts with very little cover where you'll b

I like the part where I pay for the numerous murders I committed by getting beaten up by either a Mancubus or an Arachnotron, it changed my outlook on Monster Priority. Thank you "Problematic" Revenant #7, I have yet to find a way to repay him.
