Short, nice looking but plays like shit...well, not shitty...actually it just confusing about the part to the red key, and I didn't found supershotgun...not a fan for using shotgun only to deal with powerful DooM 2 monsters...I hate that. But other than that, it's a solid level for sure. 4/5

Big and very beautiful, but confusing and monotonous to play. Five stars for visuals, only one or two for gameplay.

Nice nonlinear (and perhaps a little confusing) base, very interesting architecture and original design decisions, just as expected from the author of "Beluga". The monster/item placement isn't that hot though, many fights feel sort of like fillers: they are there just to drag the gameplay out. I think Didy can do better. ;)

Didy was always one of my favorite mappers, and this is a nice comeback map. The level starts out seemingly simple compared to his earlier stuff--easier, more linear, fewer moving parts--but then you hit a switch and the suddenly half the base seems to transform, plunging you into a hellish fight in the dark. I don't love the new monster, but the ending area's beautiful.

I am really happy Didy is still mapping. I like all his work including this one. The design is really interesting unique and non-linear. The layouts looks maybe too complex, but I didn't have problems to navigate through it. Maybe it could be little bit more difficult. I didn't like the ending so much and that is why I give it only 4/5 - Damned

Pretty good 4 a unreal/blood-like map. Unfortunately, I found some stuck areas that can't b freed. Confusing map layout, which is good 4 an atmosphere of a ruined infrastructure. The sudden dark/light-ness of 1 sector was 1 hell of a fight though! ~3/5

Stellar level. It gets a little confusing with the non-linear layout and design, but never in an unmanageable way, and I think that adds to the replayability and the fun. A nice mix of ammo (a tad much), monsters, music and ambiance, and a cool little surprise at the end that could have been played up a bit more. It's moody and won't take you too long to finish, but is fun and has more thought in it than most of what's coming out now. Solid 4/5 - Capt. Redundant Captain

I genuinely enjoyed this mod with its level design and music. It was challenging and interesting and it kept me playing a while after beating it to try to find anything. though I would say it was slightly repetitive and overwhelming with enemies at some moments.

Writing a review for Darkening 2 is tough. It's a beloved megawad, and for good reason. As many other reviewers have said, it is historically a very important project.   It was an important megawad for me personally. I fell in love with the first level in particular. The music, the realistic architecture, so reminiscent of the video games of the 90s... It all left a lasting impression. And it was one of the most beautiful wads I've seen at the time.   But I rarely played anyt

A competently made map, for sure, but fun? It's way too long and repetitive, with same-y combat & ambush scenarios used again and again, and with way too much enemies, and not that much of a challenge, even for me who isn't exactly fond of "SUPER HARD WAD #9263!!!!11!. You can cut the whole thing in half, and then cut THAT half in half, and it would be a better map. Is it bad? No, just a little bit above average, mostly because it drags a bit too long.

Generally good map design, but the difficulty as is the case with pwads tends to be uneven even on HMP, especially when you mix them with what slaughtermaps tend to be (monster spam). Too many parts where, after pressing a switch, you'll spend some time killing enemies only to realise the map maker tried to get cute and spawned a bunch of hidden archviles somewhere to start reviving everyone while you were busy wasting ammo. This is especially unfun in parts with very little cover where you'll b

I like the part where I pay for the numerous murders I committed by getting beaten up by either a Mancubus or an Arachnotron, it changed my outlook on Monster Priority. Thank you "Problematic" Revenant #7, I have yet to find a way to repay him.
