About This File

A hidden UAC base on Phobos: Not satisfied with their achievements, scientists have developed a new kind of teleporter, capable of not only sending things through space, but also through time and into different dimensions. There were two prototypes of this machine but one morning, one of them was found missing! Needless to say that one lone marine is sent through the second device, to find out where the missing prototype might be and who is behind the theft...

This is a golden wad in my opinion, and don't let the first episode or the joke elements ruin the experience for you. I loved the backstory and the last episode, especially The Jade Cube and Seven. Definitely 5 stars, go through all of it!

It's a megawad without a megawad of ideas.

Very nice and the whole thing was compiled by one single guy in less than 115 million years. Looking forward to your next project Deathmatcher. My only major complaint was the puzzles - I'm colour-blind and struggled a little. 4.5/5

Seems to be poor at the first level, but it's getting better very quickly... It's a VERY GOOD wad! Some levels are HUGE ! One of the best wad I played...(and I have many...) 5/5

My review: Episodes 1-3 were bad (they get better). Episode 4 was excellent. It is definitely the heart of this wad. I loved each and every one of the maps in this episode. I think the final boss could use some improvements, though. 4/5 for Episode 4 and Episode 1 Boss, and 1/5 for the rest. Overall, I'll give this a 3/5. I think The Ultimate Doomer's comment reflects my opinions greatly; think about a map with 29 Terry-like maps, and then Map30 being as good as ZDCMP2.

horrible, trying to use ZDoom Scripts to make it cool, but the architecture looks like a 95 wad, Inclusive Memento Mori does it better

The gameplay is horrible and the maps do not get better. There's some kind of story that may actually be good, but it's completely hidden in shadow, covered by everything else that is garbage. Avoid. 0/5 - Zalewa

The 3.5 stars this had when I voted seemed fair. It has a wealth of ideas and experimentation, which I think is fantastic... But 2/3rds of the maps are very clearly a beginner’s efforts, whilst the last third is more "shows promise" than brilliant. The voice acting, music selection, atmosphere and implementation of a story actually spurred me on through the frequent mazes, Chasm-style ledge crawls, switch/key hunts and more irritating puzzles. I'd be very quick to try out a sequel, if one ever gets made.

As I mentioned before, this is a pretty excellent wad! While the map design is a bit flat and bland, the story is definitely neat and interesting, and I'm a guy who usually doesn't give a rat's ass about the storyline in games, I was actually interested in it from start to finish. Oh and the gameplay has some very creative tricks that kept me playing. 5/5!

This is a VERY ambitious WAD - more levels than Doom itself, level/"chapter" titlecards, voice acting, and an overdrawn opening cutscene. While modern zDoom features are present, the dissonance between how the game presents itself and how it actually is is a joke. Corners "smoothed" with goofy, jaggy lines, misaligned textures, hitscanners galore with minimal health; and architecture straight from a late 90s WAD... just embarassing. 1/5

I genuinely enjoyed this mod with its level design and music. It was challenging and interesting and it kept me playing a while after beating it to try to find anything. though I would say it was slightly repetitive and overwhelming with enemies at some moments.

Writing a review for Darkening 2 is tough. It's a beloved megawad, and for good reason. As many other reviewers have said, it is historically a very important project.   It was an important megawad for me personally. I fell in love with the first level in particular. The music, the realistic architecture, so reminiscent of the video games of the 90s... It all left a lasting impression. And it was one of the most beautiful wads I've seen at the time.   But I rarely played anyt

A competently made map, for sure, but fun? It's way too long and repetitive, with same-y combat & ambush scenarios used again and again, and with way too much enemies, and not that much of a challenge, even for me who isn't exactly fond of "SUPER HARD WAD #9263!!!!11!. You can cut the whole thing in half, and then cut THAT half in half, and it would be a better map. Is it bad? No, just a little bit above average, mostly because it drags a bit too long.

Generally good map design, but the difficulty as is the case with pwads tends to be uneven even on HMP, especially when you mix them with what slaughtermaps tend to be (monster spam). Too many parts where, after pressing a switch, you'll spend some time killing enemies only to realise the map maker tried to get cute and spawned a bunch of hidden archviles somewhere to start reviving everyone while you were busy wasting ammo. This is especially unfun in parts with very little cover where you'll b

I like the part where I pay for the numerous murders I committed by getting beaten up by either a Mancubus or an Arachnotron, it changed my outlook on Monster Priority. Thank you "Problematic" Revenant #7, I have yet to find a way to repay him.
