If you folks would do some research, you'd know that Matthew and Terry are completely different people. Matthew, you're a competent mapper. We should collaborate sometime. 3/5 -Linkrulezall

A non-terry map by a terry wad author; something like ogre did a week or two ago (it's 6/13/2013 as I'm typing this). It suffers from a being a bunch of squares, and having sub-par texturing. There's not much detail even though it's there. The gameplay is a bit bland as the monsters are boringly placed. Only other thing worth mentioning is that there's a hole you can't get out of in the room before the YSK. Perhaps Matthew should look into famous wads to improve his mapping skills. I give it a 3/5

can't give it 3 stars as I just rated 2/5 a waaaaaaay better map, it was too hard but it tried to be non linear and the texturing was actually better, my first maps looked better and had a better texturing, no traps to make it interesting and even a hole to block yerself \o/

Pretty good. I like maps like this where you just run around and kill stuff. Took me about 5 minutes to beat. 3/5

I'm going to voice the same opinions as the first reviewer and say that you should work on layout. Also, I doubt that this'd work in vanilla due to the map being in UDMF format and having slopes: I'd recommend using Doom Builder for future vanilla maps. I'll give it a 2, but it's still miles better than a Terrywad. - Obsidian

Rooms are boxes and corridors. The red key is 2 seconds away from the red door - why have either? They aren't obligatory. You're learning quickly, but your mapping style is becoming generic. I have seen a lot better map design in your terrywads. What happened here, Matthew? You have a lot of potential, don't squander it by restricting yourself to appease vanilla enthusiasts. I want to see you experiment and continue to improve.

lol. It's odd people rate this... but I guess it's not a Terrywad. No but seriously... this wad is blah. I'll give it 2/5 because I'm feeling nice today. Other than that, it's very generic. A terrywad would get a 0/5 from me.

Too short, and the detail is just so so.

I genuinely enjoyed this mod with its level design and music. It was challenging and interesting and it kept me playing a while after beating it to try to find anything. though I would say it was slightly repetitive and overwhelming with enemies at some moments.

Writing a review for Darkening 2 is tough. It's a beloved megawad, and for good reason. As many other reviewers have said, it is historically a very important project.   It was an important megawad for me personally. I fell in love with the first level in particular. The music, the realistic architecture, so reminiscent of the video games of the 90s... It all left a lasting impression. And it was one of the most beautiful wads I've seen at the time.   But I rarely played anyt

A competently made map, for sure, but fun? It's way too long and repetitive, with same-y combat & ambush scenarios used again and again, and with way too much enemies, and not that much of a challenge, even for me who isn't exactly fond of "SUPER HARD WAD #9263!!!!11!. You can cut the whole thing in half, and then cut THAT half in half, and it would be a better map. Is it bad? No, just a little bit above average, mostly because it drags a bit too long.

Generally good map design, but the difficulty as is the case with pwads tends to be uneven even on HMP, especially when you mix them with what slaughtermaps tend to be (monster spam). Too many parts where, after pressing a switch, you'll spend some time killing enemies only to realise the map maker tried to get cute and spawned a bunch of hidden archviles somewhere to start reviving everyone while you were busy wasting ammo. This is especially unfun in parts with very little cover where you'll b

I like the part where I pay for the numerous murders I committed by getting beaten up by either a Mancubus or an Arachnotron, it changed my outlook on Monster Priority. Thank you "Problematic" Revenant #7, I have yet to find a way to repay him.
