Repercussions of Evil: The Game

About This File

Behold! From HTML page to videogame screen: the seminal work of literature (http://www.fanfiction.net/s/8181390/1/Doom-Repercussions-of-Evil-Repost) now boasts a brilliant game adaptation!

(For a specific definition of "brilliant".)

Note that, due to Doom palette limitations, the mod will look better in GZDoom.

This is actually an updated version of my old mod I made a few years back for the "words to maps" contest on Newdoom forums (http://forums.newdoom.com/showthread.php?t=35252). The objective of the contest was to choose a piece of Doom fan fiction and create an adaptation in Doom map form. Too late I've realized that the contest was for Boom-compatible maps only--derp!

I've found the mod sitting on my hard drive a couple of months ago, and realized that, hey, I never released this to the public. The only problem was... well, the original mod sucked. Somehow, I managed to find enough attention span to re-make and improve it.

Incidentally, I'm not the first guy to pull this concept off (see repevil.wad by Meatbag). Whose adaptation is better? His, probably. Or maybe I'm just so tired of playtesting my mod over and over that everything looks better in comparison.

Could've been a funny jokewad, but it really was too short. Funky music, though. 2/5 - ZZ

I have to admit, I thought this was going to be really shitty, but this actually got a few chuckles from me. I liked the crayon textures and the hand-drawn graphics. You should have added voices to it. 4/5

^ Nope, it isn't. Anyway, this is a remake of the infamous Doom fanfic with goergous hand drawn graphics for the textures and monsters.

Oh man, this WAD was amazing. I saw the title and remembered seeing the flash video of it, and decided to download it. The hand drawn graphics were awesome, and I actually enjoyed getting "kill by demons".

Imback55 needs to go to hell! This wad is nice and good, and this is your kid like drawing on a paper and fun(a thing that Doom 3 lacks)

Expected this to be utter shit like most jokewads. It ended up being downright adorable. 4/5

I have zero clue what the text and story was about: it's colored like the backgrounds, and scrolls by rapidly in a small font. But I guess the plot doesn't really matter. It's something about a stick figure and crayon drawings. It's ugly, but different, and fun in a gimicky way. It feels like a lot of work went into making it look slapped together. Gameplay is average. 3/5 - Hubic Pair

Enjoyable and fresh theme. The old and crusty story isn't funny anymore, though. The chiptune music is grating and unfitting. 3/5, or 4/5 if you mute it.

Good try. 2/5 for your work, but... DOOM serious style is bether option. May be this game mod will be good idea for some other games. from: DOOMman

Overrated. Looks terrible and has sucky gameplay. It only gets one star for the animation and that's about it. Otherwise I would avoid and find something that not only looks better, but also has better gameplay.

damn, I really loved the crayon textures! I wish music would be laughably creepy rather than lighthearted... It's a jokewad with plot so I can't really talk about gameplay. Anyway, dobra robota!

Haha! The mod is pretty good! The graphics really emphasize the crappines of the fanfic. I liked the first cutscene. The sounds could be yourself doing your version of them with your mouth. :P You could have, however, made the sprites not-flat. (But that would be much more work, right?) 4/5 :D Oh, and PS: This is NOT a Terrywad. That guy below/above me is a troll. Trust me.

Everyone knows fanfiction is the work of the devil, still very cool mod. Giving 3 out of 5 stars. Good job.

I genuinely enjoyed this mod with its level design and music. It was challenging and interesting and it kept me playing a while after beating it to try to find anything. though I would say it was slightly repetitive and overwhelming with enemies at some moments.

Writing a review for Darkening 2 is tough. It's a beloved megawad, and for good reason. As many other reviewers have said, it is historically a very important project.   It was an important megawad for me personally. I fell in love with the first level in particular. The music, the realistic architecture, so reminiscent of the video games of the 90s... It all left a lasting impression. And it was one of the most beautiful wads I've seen at the time.   But I rarely played anyt

A competently made map, for sure, but fun? It's way too long and repetitive, with same-y combat & ambush scenarios used again and again, and with way too much enemies, and not that much of a challenge, even for me who isn't exactly fond of "SUPER HARD WAD #9263!!!!11!. You can cut the whole thing in half, and then cut THAT half in half, and it would be a better map. Is it bad? No, just a little bit above average, mostly because it drags a bit too long.

Generally good map design, but the difficulty as is the case with pwads tends to be uneven even on HMP, especially when you mix them with what slaughtermaps tend to be (monster spam). Too many parts where, after pressing a switch, you'll spend some time killing enemies only to realise the map maker tried to get cute and spawned a bunch of hidden archviles somewhere to start reviving everyone while you were busy wasting ammo. This is especially unfun in parts with very little cover where you'll b

I like the part where I pay for the numerous murders I committed by getting beaten up by either a Mancubus or an Arachnotron, it changed my outlook on Monster Priority. Thank you "Problematic" Revenant #7, I have yet to find a way to repay him.
