About This File

This is a singleplayer map, i tried vanilla for the first time. I usually use hexen format because i like scripting, but after finishing this wad, i concluded that no scripts were needed. I had a bit of trouble with a lift though... There isn't much health in this wad, so you better be pretty good at it. This is my first time trying out difficulty settings.

There really isn't a story, but you should have fun nonetheless.

There could have been some room for improvement, but overall it was a pretty decent wad. 4/5

I'm quite suprised. This WAD felt like a true level of DOOM II but if it were removed. There were hard parts about it, i won't lie, but all in all, it was a fun WAD. Keep it up. :)

Something is missing here. Oh yeah, the best part that gets saved for last. Like ice cream with no cherry on top. 2/5

This was awesome, I just wish there WAS a Terrytrap at the end because it felt like it lacked it. But nonetheless, that was awesome. I think that's what I like about Terrywads, it provides a nice battle and level in general and than a hilarious twist ending at it.

Nice small and compact map with well balanced ammo placement. I definitely had fun. 4 stars. -TRRobin.

Despite being made by a known Terry-Style mapper... this is actually a good map overall, but needs a bit of a style update, as well as some secrets to hunt for... Also, you could make future maps a little less linear. But keep it up; I want to see some more... ~Hank

I'm puzzled by the statement "there isn't much health in this wad". It's everywhere! The lighting is nicely done and surprisingly subtle, but texturing is a bit sloppy. There's a HOM on one of the doorways and a chess-pattern sky (ZDoom - missing texture?) The difficulty level was tough but not frustrating. I completed it in about 15 minutes on my 3rd or 4th attempt. I ran out of ammo at one point so I began dodging the barons because they take a lot of hits. I was able to kill them upon retracing my steps.

A wad well worthy of a n00b Terry mapper that was n00b even at that - this level is a thrilling ride of backtracking, eye-melting pitch black computer hallways with hard-to-see passages, and about 50 thousand Baron of Hell fights. The only reason it needs a sourceport is because of warping flats and a door that specifically needs a Red SKULL to open, not a Red Keycard. Oh, and a scrolling Thy Flesh Consumed sky. Boring, linear (like a Terry map) and completely below mapping quality.

^ While you don't have to be a mapping prodigy to tell between a good or bad map, I bet you couldn't even come close to Matthew's maps. 5/5 too btw.

Really good map, but i don't like how ZDoom features like Deep Water and some other ones that made the map less 'Not needing a Source Port'. 4/5 - DoomGeek101

One of the author's better wads. Could benefit from some more height variation but I like that he has actually put some effort into this.

Although this map will not run in DOS, Choco Doom or Doom95, it is a solid E1 style map. I was especially reminded of e1m2 because of the dark computer maze. 4/5

is Grazza really the only one who didn't play this in zdoom? This map has SR actions with zero tag and mixes textures/flats on floors/ceilings. If your map requires zdoom then that's fine, but you have to tell us.

I genuinely enjoyed this mod with its level design and music. It was challenging and interesting and it kept me playing a while after beating it to try to find anything. though I would say it was slightly repetitive and overwhelming with enemies at some moments.

Writing a review for Darkening 2 is tough. It's a beloved megawad, and for good reason. As many other reviewers have said, it is historically a very important project.   It was an important megawad for me personally. I fell in love with the first level in particular. The music, the realistic architecture, so reminiscent of the video games of the 90s... It all left a lasting impression. And it was one of the most beautiful wads I've seen at the time.   But I rarely played anyt

A competently made map, for sure, but fun? It's way too long and repetitive, with same-y combat & ambush scenarios used again and again, and with way too much enemies, and not that much of a challenge, even for me who isn't exactly fond of "SUPER HARD WAD #9263!!!!11!. You can cut the whole thing in half, and then cut THAT half in half, and it would be a better map. Is it bad? No, just a little bit above average, mostly because it drags a bit too long.

Generally good map design, but the difficulty as is the case with pwads tends to be uneven even on HMP, especially when you mix them with what slaughtermaps tend to be (monster spam). Too many parts where, after pressing a switch, you'll spend some time killing enemies only to realise the map maker tried to get cute and spawned a bunch of hidden archviles somewhere to start reviving everyone while you were busy wasting ammo. This is especially unfun in parts with very little cover where you'll b

I like the part where I pay for the numerous murders I committed by getting beaten up by either a Mancubus or an Arachnotron, it changed my outlook on Monster Priority. Thank you "Problematic" Revenant #7, I have yet to find a way to repay him.
