Doom Music Inversion

About This File

Changes the notes in all the music so they are inverted, so low notes are high and vice versa. Makes for some weird, wacky or awkward sounding tunes.

Some of the inverted midis sound alright, though I really wasn't all that pleased with the majority of them. Good effort though.

Great idea! While everything sounds very psychedelic, music is oddly non-agressive an jolly, and there are many enjoyable tunes. E1M8 sounds like Dream Theater's Overture 1928, MAP09 reminds me of Rush and E1M8, E2M3 and MAP10 are just plain awesome :D -Dukenator

These are interesting-sounding , almost like they're positive variations on the normally-negative Doom songs. E1M8, D_READ_M, and D_RUNNIN are hilarious but sound almost like they were intended to sound this way somehow. 4 stars because E1M1 is so...argh and because some of the songs don't have much going for them.

D_IN_CIT Sounds like a 70's-80's rock song. For this, it gets 5 stars. (Also, for those complaining about this wad being pointless, it does what it says. So there's that.)

If only the primary intention of this wad to fit with D2TWIDD. I like this thing. This might as well be called "The upside down music" wad

Hopefully we'll see MIDIflipper on /idgames as a utility soon :) It's brilliant. Map03 sounds nearly the same at first! Map09 sounds very posh and proper. If you let map20 get to the main melody, it sounds like a lullaby for demons, it's haunting, but not as evil as the real map20. I reccoment listening to the story text music as well, sounds like classic music!

E1M8 is the happiest of all. Sounds like some kind of Beach-Themed song.

An interesting idea. Some of the music seems slightly improved at first but I found that something was "off" with every track - they started to get on my nerves in a strange way. Am a bit biased though, I never liked the Doom 2 soundtrack anyway! ;)

This is brilliant. I'm amazed how many of these turn out happy, stately, or just downright silly.

For some reason this thing has permanently infected my DOOM 2 IWAD and will not go back, what the hell is up with that crap!

I genuinely enjoyed this mod with its level design and music. It was challenging and interesting and it kept me playing a while after beating it to try to find anything. though I would say it was slightly repetitive and overwhelming with enemies at some moments.

Writing a review for Darkening 2 is tough. It's a beloved megawad, and for good reason. As many other reviewers have said, it is historically a very important project.   It was an important megawad for me personally. I fell in love with the first level in particular. The music, the realistic architecture, so reminiscent of the video games of the 90s... It all left a lasting impression. And it was one of the most beautiful wads I've seen at the time.   But I rarely played anyt

A competently made map, for sure, but fun? It's way too long and repetitive, with same-y combat & ambush scenarios used again and again, and with way too much enemies, and not that much of a challenge, even for me who isn't exactly fond of "SUPER HARD WAD #9263!!!!11!. You can cut the whole thing in half, and then cut THAT half in half, and it would be a better map. Is it bad? No, just a little bit above average, mostly because it drags a bit too long.

Generally good map design, but the difficulty as is the case with pwads tends to be uneven even on HMP, especially when you mix them with what slaughtermaps tend to be (monster spam). Too many parts where, after pressing a switch, you'll spend some time killing enemies only to realise the map maker tried to get cute and spawned a bunch of hidden archviles somewhere to start reviving everyone while you were busy wasting ammo. This is especially unfun in parts with very little cover where you'll b

I like the part where I pay for the numerous murders I committed by getting beaten up by either a Mancubus or an Arachnotron, it changed my outlook on Monster Priority. Thank you "Problematic" Revenant #7, I have yet to find a way to repay him.
