About This File

Large tech base done in a TNT type of vibe, nice and open map with plenty of challenging encounters. Its supposed to look like an old out of use abbandoned installation. And for some reason the forces of evil have shown some interest in it, time to flush them out.

Excellent map from Dutch Devil. Looks nice with lots of bastard demons to kill. Nice architecture, monster closets, green nukage and a few secrets... what else do you need.

This is what you call a Doom map. Another 31 would go down a treat. ( Hint Hint ) Well done. 5*****

Played @ UV. Classical look-and-feel, but very well done. Gameplay is well balanced, and quite varying: sometimes relatively easy, sometimes very hard, but always fair and challenging. Even monster-popups are well implemented (which is imho very rare). So gameplay is excellent. Solid 4/5, and absolutely worth a play. Thanks for sharing this map.

This is an awesome map! Long, and nice on the eyes. The detail and gameplay are just right.

Good map. Very similar to the map he submitted for my community project in 2010 (Doom2 Unleashed) Big, hard, challenging. Its a slime themed mossy base with good detail, architecture and lighting.

^It is very reminiscent of that level. Could have called it Substation II, and it would be fully appropriate. Anyways follows the typical DD formula with few deviations, so nothing that hasn't been seen before, but a fun and welcome map to play.

Dutch Devil does it again! Good visuals (that reprise the theme of Substation from Doom II Unleashed) and a solid, low-threat playing experience that progresses evenly make for an enjoyable 20-odd minutes of play time. It's largely linear and the secrets are easy to find though, so once you've played it once you're done, really. 4* -Phobus

Dutch Devil is an artist and this is art. I loved everything about it except the music (and I wish I'd played on HMP because UV is hard as nails). Is it too much to hope that the makers of ugly WADs see this and rethink their texturing, lighting, architecture, and general lack of imagination?

Great stuff here as usual. I found the ending to be a little anti-climactic, but I think I'm just being somewhat nit-picky there. 4/5

I genuinely enjoyed this mod with its level design and music. It was challenging and interesting and it kept me playing a while after beating it to try to find anything. though I would say it was slightly repetitive and overwhelming with enemies at some moments.

Writing a review for Darkening 2 is tough. It's a beloved megawad, and for good reason. As many other reviewers have said, it is historically a very important project.   It was an important megawad for me personally. I fell in love with the first level in particular. The music, the realistic architecture, so reminiscent of the video games of the 90s... It all left a lasting impression. And it was one of the most beautiful wads I've seen at the time.   But I rarely played anyt

A competently made map, for sure, but fun? It's way too long and repetitive, with same-y combat & ambush scenarios used again and again, and with way too much enemies, and not that much of a challenge, even for me who isn't exactly fond of "SUPER HARD WAD #9263!!!!11!. You can cut the whole thing in half, and then cut THAT half in half, and it would be a better map. Is it bad? No, just a little bit above average, mostly because it drags a bit too long.

Generally good map design, but the difficulty as is the case with pwads tends to be uneven even on HMP, especially when you mix them with what slaughtermaps tend to be (monster spam). Too many parts where, after pressing a switch, you'll spend some time killing enemies only to realise the map maker tried to get cute and spawned a bunch of hidden archviles somewhere to start reviving everyone while you were busy wasting ammo. This is especially unfun in parts with very little cover where you'll b

I like the part where I pay for the numerous murders I committed by getting beaten up by either a Mancubus or an Arachnotron, it changed my outlook on Monster Priority. Thank you "Problematic" Revenant #7, I have yet to find a way to repay him.
