3/5 for lots of shootage in levels that were okay, but could have provided more. Some were nice, more of them were bland and poor on interesting/inventiv e gameplay, design and ideas. The only real problem of this megawad is that there's nothing special on it, too many similar generic ones already came out before. I've had fun though. Good job.

At first I expected an average set of good, classic Doom maps. Unfortunately this is full of filler levels, some almost reaching rank of slaughter maps, with copy&pasta monsters just to increase the monster counter per level. There are some good maps here, so I recommend skipping anything that gives a vibe of a filler. I'd prefer if all fillers were cut out and good levels had more development focus.

i liked it, a very 90's style feel, although many levels were awkward, they were mostly short, fun, fragging maps.

Played @ UV. Maps started not too bad and in some cases even good, but (except for some) changed in a sort-of 'let's draw some lines & put some monsters in it' style. Fights turned into a zillion copies of itself, making 32 maps way too boring. Author might consider a less ambituous project. 2/5 because too many maps are plain WOT.

A few 5-star maps in here (19, 20 and 28 really stand out in my memory)and some interesting conceptual ones as well (a few small sized slaughter maps gave me flashbacks of scythe). But too many of them are obviously filler and seem to have been included just to complete the 32 levels. Don't mean to put down the effort made by the author, but maybe some more time developing his ideas, or even not going for a full 32 would have produced a better overall result. Have to give it a *** as an overall rating.

I genuinely enjoyed this mod with its level design and music. It was challenging and interesting and it kept me playing a while after beating it to try to find anything. though I would say it was slightly repetitive and overwhelming with enemies at some moments.

Writing a review for Darkening 2 is tough. It's a beloved megawad, and for good reason. As many other reviewers have said, it is historically a very important project.   It was an important megawad for me personally. I fell in love with the first level in particular. The music, the realistic architecture, so reminiscent of the video games of the 90s... It all left a lasting impression. And it was one of the most beautiful wads I've seen at the time.   But I rarely played anyt

A competently made map, for sure, but fun? It's way too long and repetitive, with same-y combat & ambush scenarios used again and again, and with way too much enemies, and not that much of a challenge, even for me who isn't exactly fond of "SUPER HARD WAD #9263!!!!11!. You can cut the whole thing in half, and then cut THAT half in half, and it would be a better map. Is it bad? No, just a little bit above average, mostly because it drags a bit too long.

Generally good map design, but the difficulty as is the case with pwads tends to be uneven even on HMP, especially when you mix them with what slaughtermaps tend to be (monster spam). Too many parts where, after pressing a switch, you'll spend some time killing enemies only to realise the map maker tried to get cute and spawned a bunch of hidden archviles somewhere to start reviving everyone while you were busy wasting ammo. This is especially unfun in parts with very little cover where you'll b

I like the part where I pay for the numerous murders I committed by getting beaten up by either a Mancubus or an Arachnotron, it changed my outlook on Monster Priority. Thank you "Problematic" Revenant #7, I have yet to find a way to repay him.
