About This File

Starting a (Late) new year with this. Hope it won't end up like somemap.wad. The second map is a wad you may be familiar, but did some updates and what it should have been.

Also my first accept to make my maps less linear.

If there wasn't monsters and other added stuff I'd likely rate this a three. I don't think they are necessarily well thought out or important to the gameplay, but I just have a soft spot for new monsters. The maps look nice over all, but it's just far too easy. There isn't an option to choose difficulty. There is a lot of potential in this wad, but it falls a little short. I only played the first map because I found the gameplay tedious - not challenging enough. I'm not sure if there is another way to grab the red key, but the ladder does not work in GZDoom or Zandronum... I had to noclip. Just gotta press, "use."

Not bad.

Badass visuals, badass gameplay, badass everything. Brilliant.

The new monsters felt kinda weak, though, except for the plasma zombie.

Like, why add another rapid-fire monster when you already have 2x of them?

Or one more lost soul? The yellow one is annoying enough.

Or a Pinky that pretends to be a Baron? Pffff.

Omegalore really does show a lot of potntial for greatness. 3 stars for the effort alone and because I think your next release will be better :)

Man, these maps are ugly. This WAD uses a blueish color palette, which is an eye-sore, but the ugliness also comes from applied textures. Architecture is mostly flat. Level variance is only in corridors between rooms. Both maps are non-linear but not well connected, so if you go in the wrong direction first then you'll need to backtrack a lot later. Fights are okay, at least. It's a shame, since clearly a lot of effort was put into this WAD.

Like Simplicity megawad. However, it's 2 maps. I must say that it was some burly action though! At times, the moments were quiet, but tis always a great battle when I lift up the hangar doors or backtrack into a sneaky ambush. Nevertheless, cool. Wished it was a constant stream of action, but I gotta give props to the quiet moments, made me appreciate the mapping details. Used custom monster combos, lol. ~2/5

Two large indoor levels in a high-tech style. Technically well done. But there are some big problems. 1) The architecture, texture use, decoration and ambiance are way, way too repetitive. 2) The gameplay clearly misses a leitmotiv, you're just walking around entering a scene, kill a few monsters, and repeat the used technique to the end of the mapset. Overall it's monotonous above the upper limit. Verdict: lots of effort, but as it doesn't have a soul, playing it didn't give fun. 3* for the effort.

I genuinely enjoyed this mod with its level design and music. It was challenging and interesting and it kept me playing a while after beating it to try to find anything. though I would say it was slightly repetitive and overwhelming with enemies at some moments.

Writing a review for Darkening 2 is tough. It's a beloved megawad, and for good reason. As many other reviewers have said, it is historically a very important project.   It was an important megawad for me personally. I fell in love with the first level in particular. The music, the realistic architecture, so reminiscent of the video games of the 90s... It all left a lasting impression. And it was one of the most beautiful wads I've seen at the time.   But I rarely played anyt

A competently made map, for sure, but fun? It's way too long and repetitive, with same-y combat & ambush scenarios used again and again, and with way too much enemies, and not that much of a challenge, even for me who isn't exactly fond of "SUPER HARD WAD #9263!!!!11!. You can cut the whole thing in half, and then cut THAT half in half, and it would be a better map. Is it bad? No, just a little bit above average, mostly because it drags a bit too long.

Generally good map design, but the difficulty as is the case with pwads tends to be uneven even on HMP, especially when you mix them with what slaughtermaps tend to be (monster spam). Too many parts where, after pressing a switch, you'll spend some time killing enemies only to realise the map maker tried to get cute and spawned a bunch of hidden archviles somewhere to start reviving everyone while you were busy wasting ammo. This is especially unfun in parts with very little cover where you'll b

I like the part where I pay for the numerous murders I committed by getting beaten up by either a Mancubus or an Arachnotron, it changed my outlook on Monster Priority. Thank you "Problematic" Revenant #7, I have yet to find a way to repay him.
