About This File

Your world is collapsing around you and your only hope is a portal leading to further danger. Once home to a powerful warlock, his demonic minions are now free to use his magical abode to open portals to distant lands as they see fit. They should be stopped.

The Warlock's Hearth is a very large map for limit-removing ports with an emphasis on atmosphere, exploration and enjoyable fights that still challenge the player without putting the pressure on all the time. The map features an .ogg soundtrack courtesy of Der Wolfmensch (Marco from Decoded Feedback's sideproject).

Cool adventure-style map with a high level of detail and plenty of variety in both themes and gameplay. 4/5

Great map, excellent architecture and atmosphere. I like Zalewa's choice of word: "relaxing" difficulty, plenty to keep you interested but never especially hard or overwhelming. I could've done with a bit more challenge at times. A very well-constructed, engrossing adventure nonetheless.

Very nice map. Found ammo a bit scarce, that being my only compliant. The theme I liked looked lovely and mixed well with different sections, the tech base area I really enjoyed. Took me 40 mins with 96% kills. Epic!

Thing 1520 is only flagged on UV meaning that one mancubus never teleports in on lower difficulties. other than that, nice.

Excellent large level with 700 monsters that are strung out so it's not a slaughter map and it never feels like any section is needlessly prolonged. The map is well balanced and provides lots of space to manuever and lots of pickups so that the difficulty level is relaxing - you don't need to worry too much about getting killed here. I'm not a big fan of the music choice, though.

Would've preferred it spread across multiple maps but it's great. The music especially. https://youtu.be/4Sr PVi-VZcI

I genuinely enjoyed this mod with its level design and music. It was challenging and interesting and it kept me playing a while after beating it to try to find anything. though I would say it was slightly repetitive and overwhelming with enemies at some moments.

Writing a review for Darkening 2 is tough. It's a beloved megawad, and for good reason. As many other reviewers have said, it is historically a very important project.   It was an important megawad for me personally. I fell in love with the first level in particular. The music, the realistic architecture, so reminiscent of the video games of the 90s... It all left a lasting impression. And it was one of the most beautiful wads I've seen at the time.   But I rarely played anyt

A competently made map, for sure, but fun? It's way too long and repetitive, with same-y combat & ambush scenarios used again and again, and with way too much enemies, and not that much of a challenge, even for me who isn't exactly fond of "SUPER HARD WAD #9263!!!!11!. You can cut the whole thing in half, and then cut THAT half in half, and it would be a better map. Is it bad? No, just a little bit above average, mostly because it drags a bit too long.

Generally good map design, but the difficulty as is the case with pwads tends to be uneven even on HMP, especially when you mix them with what slaughtermaps tend to be (monster spam). Too many parts where, after pressing a switch, you'll spend some time killing enemies only to realise the map maker tried to get cute and spawned a bunch of hidden archviles somewhere to start reviving everyone while you were busy wasting ammo. This is especially unfun in parts with very little cover where you'll b

I like the part where I pay for the numerous murders I committed by getting beaten up by either a Mancubus or an Arachnotron, it changed my outlook on Monster Priority. Thank you "Problematic" Revenant #7, I have yet to find a way to repay him.
