About This File

A horrific simulation of a future world gone mad. The drug war having raged out of control with relocation (death) camps being filled with peaceful cannabis users.

You the player being a peaceful non-voilent cannabis user finding yourself the first addition to a whole new death camp complex.

Sure to be a cult classic. You run around collecting "bong hits" for health & armor while killing off (in self defense) all the classic drug war baddies. Cool sounds sampled from NWA, Cypress Hill, Ice-T & others. Lots of cool anti-drug war slogans.

Lets prevent this story from becoming true. Peace Not, Prisons, End the Drug War. Learn to be an expert anti-drug war debater from the bonus file schaffer.exe (zip file in executable format).

I could have sworn there was a version that replaced the armor with big buds.. A little more focused on comedy than the politics. Either way this wad kind of stinks.

First of all, politics don't belong in doom. Second of all, the actual resources and levels suck enough ass that they would make the Village People blush which isn't doesn't help your cause. Third of all, if this is what we get from people that smoke pot all day then I would rather the drugs stay illegal and the author be put in prison for life.

"We got the 8 ball rollin!" Nuff said - this is absolutely a classic. Invite a friend over, pack a few bowls, enjoy, cause this map is the real deal.

While I agree mainly agree with the "message" of this wad, I think political issues have no place in Doom-projects whatsoever. 3/5 I guess...

This is interesting more as a portrait of a certain kind of person circa 1995 than as a resource; back when internet users tended to be middle-class single white male university residents with little experience of the outside world. The text files included (seemingly virus-free) are batty; "I believe that doctors and African-Americans are absolutely vital to our success and that every one of us should take immediate steps to recruit them to our cause" etc. The sounds tend to pop at the end.

I remember when this first came out back in the day. I was only 12 at the time, but I remember thinking it was pretty cool. Of course, being an impressionable youth probably had something to do with it. Looking back on it, yes this is a bad wad, but I'm giving it a 3/5 just for the nostalgia.

This is extremely pitiful. You really have to suffer from a mental defect to do (and release) something like this. If you weren't against drugs before, you surely are after you've seen this.

I genuinely enjoyed this mod with its level design and music. It was challenging and interesting and it kept me playing a while after beating it to try to find anything. though I would say it was slightly repetitive and overwhelming with enemies at some moments.

Writing a review for Darkening 2 is tough. It's a beloved megawad, and for good reason. As many other reviewers have said, it is historically a very important project.   It was an important megawad for me personally. I fell in love with the first level in particular. The music, the realistic architecture, so reminiscent of the video games of the 90s... It all left a lasting impression. And it was one of the most beautiful wads I've seen at the time.   But I rarely played anyt

A competently made map, for sure, but fun? It's way too long and repetitive, with same-y combat & ambush scenarios used again and again, and with way too much enemies, and not that much of a challenge, even for me who isn't exactly fond of "SUPER HARD WAD #9263!!!!11!. You can cut the whole thing in half, and then cut THAT half in half, and it would be a better map. Is it bad? No, just a little bit above average, mostly because it drags a bit too long.

Generally good map design, but the difficulty as is the case with pwads tends to be uneven even on HMP, especially when you mix them with what slaughtermaps tend to be (monster spam). Too many parts where, after pressing a switch, you'll spend some time killing enemies only to realise the map maker tried to get cute and spawned a bunch of hidden archviles somewhere to start reviving everyone while you were busy wasting ammo. This is especially unfun in parts with very little cover where you'll b

I like the part where I pay for the numerous murders I committed by getting beaten up by either a Mancubus or an Arachnotron, it changed my outlook on Monster Priority. Thank you "Problematic" Revenant #7, I have yet to find a way to repay him.
